I thought this was a very good article about resource guarding. It's something that every dog should have training in. Starting with puppies is far easier than waiting for the behavior to present. If you have an older dog where resource guarding has become serious and dangerous, consult a certified behaviorist or trainer who really knows behavior and uses non-confrontational methods. There are many different levels of seriousness with this very natural behavior. Always think "safety first." If you have a mild resource guarder, you may be able to deal with this yourself. But learn all you can first and do things right.
