Poultry fat is not a great ingredient because it doesn't name the specific source of fat i.e. chicket fat etc. But, Innova EVO does NOT contain it.

Showpug! It was a trick question! lol... ;) :D
lol, I actually thought about it after I posted. I was thinking, well technically chicken fat isa type of poultry fat so I guess Innova Evo does contain it. But, when the fat source is specifically listed it's much better than just generic "poultry fat."

No, it isn't.

Poultry Fat:

"Note how in this product the source is not defined as "slaughtered poultry". The rendered fowl can be obtained from any source, so there is no control over quality or contamination. Any kind of animal can be included: "4-D animals" (dead, diseased, disabled, or dying prior to slaughter), turkey, chicken, geese, buzzard, seagulls, misc. roadkill, birds euthanized at shelters and so on."

Laneyandme, if you are asking if added fat in a food is bad then no, it isn't. Check out Mordy's site:

While fats are the main source of energy in a dog food, they also supply essential fatty acids, prevent dehydration and serve as carriers for fat soluble vitamins. Chicken fat, sunflower oil, various coldwater fish oils and flax oil/seed are rich in nutrients, while cheaper ingredients like animal fat, beef tallow, and lard (though very palatable to dogs, who just love the taste) lack significant and balanced amounts and are often of questionable quality.

So..

Poultry fat implies that it can be from a 4D source, since it does not indicate it was slaughtered.

Why does chicken fat need to be from a slaughtered source? It seems to me that a 4D chicken can be chicken fat?

Why would we care where it came from anyway, if we could be assured of a slaughtered source? Chicken, duck, goose, whats the difference?

I know what you were intending, but I got this really random image of a bunch of chickens all lining up to donate "chicken fat" like we do blood and also going to the plastic surgeons for lipo and that's how the "non-slaughtered" chicken fat comes to us. :lol-sign:
