AgriFeed, where I buy my dog food, has picked up this line Home : Earthborn Holistic Pet Food

I'm just starting to look into it, but from what I read on the bags of their grain free food today, it may be a good replacement for EVO. I do wish they had a red meat formula, though, but when I mentioned that to the store owner, she said she would bring that to the rep's attention that there are going to be EVO buyers who are going to be switching and having a grain free red meat might be a very good idea :)

I had Pointy Britches on it for a while, but for some reason her poo was greenish from it. Other than that I liked it a lot.

They don't carry Origen :( They'll special order it for me, but it's more than $20 more a bag than I'm paying for the EVO and I just can't do that. I'm scraping by as it is and filling in with leftovers.

nature's variety instinct is similar to evo and has four different varieties (beef, rabbit, venison, and chicken iirc- the rabbit can sometimes be hard to find).

that's what steve usually eats and he does very well on it.

I love the fact that your dog's name is Steve.

I second the Nature's Variety Instinct recommendation. It comes in four flavors (Chicken, Duck/Turkey, Rabbit, and Salmon), and plus, it has a raw bio-coating, so you get some of the enzymatic benefits of raw.

I'd feed Nature's Variety over Earthborn. If I recall correctly, the company that makes Earthborn has some ethical concerns.

Plus, I'm sure this varies from store to store, but at the store I work at, Instinct is a bit cheaper per pound than EVO.

Thanks, but I'm really looking for a red meat based food. Mine don't care much for the poultry/fish based ones (well, Bimmer mostly -- he's my picky one), and they really do seem to do better on red meat. It makes sense, at least for Kharma and Bimmer, since her breed are cattle ranch dogs and his "ethnic" background is geared more toward red meat/game.

Tallulah . . . well, she's more like

when it comes to food, lol

I wish I could find a substitute but for now I'm going to stay with evo. I can't find any other that sells grain free, red meat, small bites anywhere. pooh!
