Since this sort of goes along with this thread I will mention this..

I have raised several litters of squirrels and were successfully released into the wild... well my parents back yard with 14 acres of woods behind... At this time they have about 8+ squirrels as big as groundhogs staying around.. Lol I am sure they are decendents of the ones I raised...
They would never be considered for food either. I loved those squirrels and they had personalities comparable to a ferret... They would jump and play with your hands if you moved them around on the floor...very playful and fun creatures... I helped them, I enjoyed them! I had compassion for them...

YET... It doesn't bother me a bit to cook a squirrel pot pie, sometimes something has to die in order for someone to live... I respect them and would never cause suffering to any animal...

I would also like to say I am a meat eater! And I do have compassion for all animals, and I am very thankful for their contribution to my diet... just as wolves, coyotes, etc would be thankful for the contribution, if they could think like a human.

The NRA and hunters do alot more to protect wetlands, and land...homes of the wild...than any other organization I know about... at least in the US. The hunters appreciate nature and do alot of things to help, even though we also kill and eat meat....
