Yesterday eve I let Sloi out in the backyard for a romp....I played with her for awhile then went back in to do some house work....when I returned to bring her in she was covered in dirt as usual...lol...chewing on a rock...Right away I was scolding myself for leaving her unattended for so long....then I noticed the blood. At first I thought that she had lost another one of her teeth...no biggy. So I hose her off and as I am drying her she lets out a yawn and I see lots off blood in the back of her mouth. So I open her mouth and see that she has BROKE two of her molars or premolars, I am not sure,...one on top and one on the bottom...and the blood is coming from small red holes in these teeth. So now I am bugging out because she didn't eat her food this morning.....which she does sometimes...but when I say "Stoli Eat!" she will always take a couple bites just to appease me...but she didn't even do that today...Has this happened to anyone? She in 5 months old...are these her adult teeth?? I don't think they are...The only ones I have noticed her loose have been her front ones...but I am worried....should I be? My vet isn't open today...I could call the emergency # I guess..

The teeth are broken with red holes in the broken part that's still left? Or the teeth are completely out showing red holes? If it's the former, could be bad (broken teeth from the rocks). If it's the latter, could be puppy teeth that have come out???? I'd call the vet, for sure...

At 5 months old, I would bet they are puppy teeth that came out, but it's grounds for a trip to the vet for sure.

My vet suggested that when I get her spayed they pull the teeth. She said if Stoli is eating and playing normal that I shouldn't worry about it. But if she stops eating and chewing that it needs to come out ASAP. Stoli is eating and playing so I am trying not to worry about it....trying...lol. She seems weird though......like she is depressed or something.

If she's teething and her mouth is sore then she can act kind of depressed. That might be what you're seeing.

You really want to stop the whole rock chewing behavior, though. That's a really bad behavior to have. Not only will it cause havoc with the teeth, if she starts to swallow little rocks you may end up with a very sick dog that has to have surgery to remove those rocks. I don't know why some dogs find rocks so attractive, but if you can squelch that now while she's young I'd really encourage it.
