Here is a thread for olympic acheivements or just amazing moments :)

anyone watch any of the women's gymnastics yesterday? (I cannot for the life of me remember her name but) the one US girl couldn't compete in the floor and vault exercises because she was injured during warm ups. MAN I can't imagine what was going through her mother's mind when she saw her daughter sitting on the sidelines and didn't know why. it turned out to be an ankle injury and she was able to do the uneven bars (one of my favorites). they had some REALLY rough spots during the floor exercise but really pulled it out during the vault.

and My GOSH the chinese women Divers yesterday... synchronized diving? WHOA. they were untouchable.

And then of course there was the medal round for the mens 400M relay swim. WOW WOW WOW what a race.

I felt bad for everyone who had to compete outside in that rain....especially the womens cycling. NASTY weather and slick conditions.

I haven't been able to catch any events yet, roomie commandeered the TV last night for "Rock Band" on Wii and I'm being subjected to bad puns and vague innuendos on TV right now. No, Chaz didn't get broadcast programming, the girls are watching "Seasame Street".

I've watched a lot. Beach volleyball, regular volleyball (against China, that was awesome!) Watched the blowout baskeball game of course. Both men's and women's gymnastics. Those Chinese men gymnasts kicked some major ass. Our girls did really well all things considering and they're in second. Watched some of the shooting with my dad who is really into that. Water polo but it's getting a bit dull. Missed the diving which I was sad about. I've watched lots of swimming as that's my favorite. It also inspires me to do laps outside, which is good. (I've been doing them all summer) It blows my mind how fast those guys can swim.

Of course the swimming and the men's 4x100 relay. That was BY FAR the most amazing and exciting thing yet!

We're terrible at the rowing though, lol.

I am watching some sort of weight lifting right now.. and the first Colombian dude has an injury to his right hand and he tried three times to lift the bar, but he couldn't. :( He started crying, it was so sad. To work that hard for 4+ years and to get to the Olympics to only have it whisked away because of an injury.

I watched Archery earlier, that was really neat! Korea took the gold.

anyone know where I can find the times that events will be shown? I didn't see any of the badminton :(

I don't want to miss the high platform diving... that's always my favorite.

I would like to catch some wrestling too.

I watch the beach volleyball yesterday the US and Netherlands mens when it was pouring rain. MAN that would have sucked.

ETA: BTW anyone catch the women's field hockey yesterday between the US and Argentina (I think)... the girl that Brian used to go to church with had an assist on the tying goal :D

US Women's Saber Fencing Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay Mariel, Sada and Becca.

Don't miss the Team Saber competition. The world has to go up against the gold silver and bronze medalists fencing together on one team. Even our alternate, Dagmara Wozniak, is amazing. She's from here in Jersey.

The gymnast was Samantha Peszek from nearby McCordsville IN. I've been following her and her teammate Bridget Sloan from Pittsboro IN ( Jeff Gordon's home town ) . I felt SO sorry for her !!! I was into gymnastic with my girls for 7 yrs , ( both went to state ) so I know the pain ! ( I had to take Amy to ER for an ankle during a meet and missed Jan's routine ...... luckily they were never in the same divisons in any of their sports ! )

Yesterday, 4X100m mens freestyle

one of the best races I've seen yet. Smashed the world record, we were dropped way back in third and we still beat it.

And teh womens hockey a couple of nights ago Aus vs Korea, I liked that game. I love hockey.

Oh BP... the diving was on just a little before the gymnastics... you JUST missed it.

The high bar routines were OUTSTANDING in the men's gymnastics last night. I loved it.

Man, the high bar was awsome, especially the american men, I thought they did really well. One of the Chinese men on the rings though blew me away. Another night I couldn't sleep after watching them. Too much adrenaline. That ring routine was nuts, the amount of power and control used for each seemingly effortless movement left me in awe.

The whole time my wife is yelling for the chinese to screw up. Myself, I love a great performance from anyone. Especially at this level, and if the Americans are to win, they better top the performance. But I was proud of them last night too. For coming from the "not expected to medal" level, to taking the bronze through consistency and team work is something special as well.

I can't wait for the women's gymnastics tonight, but so far the mens 4x100 relay swim team and that chinese guy on the rings are the two standout moments for me so far.
