I don't know how we missed this, but I just realized I can't apply for permanent residency inside the country, unless we are married or common-law. We HAVE lived together for coming up on two years, but I don't know what common-law technically means. I saw something that seemed to imply that we need to APPLY for common-law status, and another that contradicted that (as well as people telling me that's not true). It's very confusing. And expensive.
Somehow, knowing my stress isn't a lonely stress makes me feel morbidly better, lol.
I just really miss working, and money of my own in general coming in regularly. I really need to get out of this apartment though and work is the best way to do it. I'm paranoid about being turned down because I have no certified skills. Canada seems to really stress that to immigrants, but I never went to college (I do plan to) and I'm 22, was 20 when I came here, so I never had the money to get that going (loans terrify me to bits, seriously).
Just all so stressful. It's more stressful because I have no place to go in the event I MUST return to the states. So I can't even leave and apply for PR! Bugh.
