Ok, so when I have a litter, it tends to generate friends. When I had my last litter, the owners of the five that stayed local to the area constantly saw each other and they ended up as friends that still hang out to this day.
Except for one. One family wouldn't go to the puppy play dates and other stuff that we organized. I have been keeping up on the dog, and for the most part, he's been doing ok. For the past month however, I've lost track. Today, I got a phone call from someone with a pup in Minnesota who was visiing with the person back in Kansas who has this pup.
Apparently, the wife has gotten sick and the pup has gotten thin, and since the wife's been sick and the husband is about to get deployed, the dog has been living all day in his crate. He's also gotten extremely thin to the point that he's been described as a "walking skeleton". The weird part though is, I've contacted their vet, and got the dog's records. He's been there regularly, it's not like hes been getting proper care.
I understand that there are sometimes life situations where you can't keep a hyper dog. That's fine. These people did have good intentions, and until I lost track with them, he was well on his way to getting his TDI cert.
The problem here though, is that rather than giving the pup back to me as our contract states, they're trying to resell the dog themselves. They're asking $100 for this pup that they paid $700 for just to get a quick buck and get him gone.
I haven't been able to find out yet if they still have the dog or not, I've been calling my friends in Fort Leavenworth to try to find out whether or not they still have the dog, but these folks have been very hard to get ahold of since the wife's gotten sick.
I don't hold any malice towards these folks, I hope their lot in life improves, I really do, but I want my puppy back. According to my contract, it's my right as a breeder.
