Hey everyone!
I came across this forum by a friend of mine (yuckaduck), and decided I'd join!
My name is Sarah and I'm 16 years old (I'll be 17 in 10 days w00t!). I am owned by 2 crazy Sibes, a Boxer/GSD mix, and Rottie. All my babies and I love um to death!
Sheiba and Denali
My 2 Siberians are Denali and Sheiba. Sheiba is 3 years old and Denali is 2. We got them both from couples who didn't want them. The first was a younger couple who lived in an apartment and had two "teacup" chi's (*cough* we know how that is) and couldn't provide the right care for her, and they didn't want her to hurt the chi's because she wanted to play all the time. Denali came from an older couple who had gotten her for the grandchildren. Well she likes to talk alot and, as all huskies do, (but she has quite a deep 'woooo' for a female) and their grandkids were becoming afraid of her and wouldn't come over. They also both worked all day and were unable to provide proper care (they did hire a "doggy walker" during the day for Nali). We spotted both of these in the newspaper... Sheiba was for free and Nali was for $300. Some of you may be rolling your eyes because we basically got them "out of the paper", but we didn't purchase them directly from where they had. Sheiba was from a BYB and has papers, but they are really nice people and wanted to see Sheiba. We got to meet them and Sheiba's mum. And seeing Denali's papers... she was bought from a petstore Despite their misguided decisions of where to get a dog, I would not give them up for the world!
Sarge - 7 years
Sarge was a shelter rescue who had gone through 4 different homes before comming to me. The final home was my "aunt's"... I went up to visit for a few days and we instantly fell in love. He slept with me every night and didn't like when her lhasa apso got close to me. So when I came back home, she said he was a totally different dog. Seemed very depressed, wasn't eating well, and just wasn't acting himself. So I went up for another week and on my last day there my mom and I decided to bring him home to see how well he got along with our GR/Chow mix Sheiba (RIP). Well things went great and he's been here ever since. I've had to put a lot of work into him because he was so poorly socialized. He barked and tried to go after everyone... especially bikes and motorcycles. We purchased a muzzle and started taking him out more, socializing and really working on his training. All of our hard work has paid off and I could ask this dog to do back flips if he were able to. He is still a little hesitant around bikes, motorcycles, mopeds, skates, etc. But tolerates them and stays when told. He has just recently shown a dislike in certain children and I'm keeping a very close eye on that. The girl was running and screaming by the fence and I'm sure that's what triggered it.
But he's now 7 years old and a the biggest baby in the world. So many people have been afraid of him and I've gotten such nasty looks... He's my baby =)
Vom Klement's Water Lilly "Lilly" - 1 year
Lilly has had a very rough start at life. Her previous home only fed her once a day (sure an adult dog is fine... but a 3 month old pup? NO), she was infested with worms (was out walking with her before I owned her and she pooped a 12+ inch tape worm), wasn't being socialized well enough, and just wasn't your normal puppy. Well they decided she was "too much" and the time and couldn't properly care for her and they asked if we would like to take her if the breeder didn't want her back. Well the breeder allowed them to give her to us and we took her in. We put weight on her, trained and socialized the crap out of her (and still are) and she's the sweetest dog ever. She listens so well, and at 6 months old, I could put her in a sit-stay and walk a good 100+ feet away and she wouldn't move an inch until I released her. Not a very noisy dog at all, barks maybe a couple times if she hears something and then quiets down. Her parent's are registered throuhg AKC and she has papers also, but we haven't turned them in yet. At one point she was just too much for us and we tried rehoming her with a lady who had a JRT and just lost her rottie to old age. We met with the lady and liked who she would be going with, but unfortunately... Lilly didn't work out. She said Lilly was becoming too rough with Taz to the point of hurting him and plowing him over in the yard... which is odd because she grew up with a Rat Terrier at her old home. We had an agreement that we would get her back and we did. My mom's friend is very interested in her and she's had Lilly come to her house for a couple visits. So we'll see!
Oh my goodness I've babbled so much. LOL I'm sorry! But I just love to talk about my babies and I've lost track of typing!
I'm a member of another forum and am a staff member there.
I hope to enjoy my stay as you all seem like a very nice group of people. I see few familiar faces here as well! Hello to you all!
