I posted in the grooming forum a question about my yorkie girl. She was groomed on Saturday and since then, has scratched, lick, rubbed across the carpet her little private part (woo hoo)... I was wondering if we could put something on it at home? I know if it was my daughter when she was little we would've just put vaseline or desitin on it. Please let me know what is save to use.

Thanks

Is it razor burn? A little bit of Vitamin E creme can be used, and I've used neosporin on minor scratches in the past, but I don't know about the vaseline. When she got spayed she got a little razor burn and it was very irritating... the Vit E creme helped her a lot. ;) HTH

Like Brattina said, I use neosporin on little cuts...but most of the time the dogs just lick it off! :p

I would guess it's a detergent irritation, not rinsing her enough, if they really soaped her underside and rear end. Some shampoos can be very iriitating for a little Yorkies private parts! (They should never use a clipper anywhere near her "woo hoo") Lol! First check to make sure they didn't accidentally knick her with scissors if they trimmed back legs. If not, a very long warm water rinse (douche) is best and would make her feel 100% better. Neosporin and Desitin would be great for a cut anywhere else.

Thanks... We ended up taking Cocoa to the vet Wednesday night. The vet said she was definitely clipped to close to her "woo hoo" and just the initial irritation she had was probably not that bad. However, little Cocoa Ann proceeded to scratch, lick, bite, rub her woo hoo against the carpet, etc. and just made it absolutely horrible. She put an antibiotic creme on her called Dermalone that night, we did it again before bed and then again twice yesterday and she is leaving it alone now and it looks like it's trying to heal.

I swear, there is never a dull moment when you are raising 4 dogs, 2 teenagers and a husband who acts like an infant 1/2 the time...LOL

Glad that was cleared up! I'd make a note to talk to your groomer next time, as they shouldn't have used clippers there. Poor Cocoa. And you just helped me! The other day, I was trying to remember the name of an antibiotic cream a friend asked me about and I believe that's the name! Dermalone or Dermagen. Thank you! And you do have your hands full! Lol
