There is this yellow lab on our street. He keeps wandering around, though his collar says his number and stuff. Well, we told the owners he was destroying everything and we saw that they had a kennel in their yard on our way out. This dog is becoming seriously underweight and when we told the owners (again) they said they were trying to get rid of it. So just let a dog roam around to get hit, starve, get attacked by other dogs, and to destroy people's things because it doesn't know any better? That's not right! What should I do???

you could do the obvious, report the dog to the authorities. seems the owners don't care about it. just heartbreaking.

They should keep it in the kennel. It's more of a large backyard filling pen. They NEED to feed it! I'm thinking of taking it into the trail and feeding it some dog food or turkey. You have to keep it slow, though. Not in our yard though, cuz I don't want him to think we're his family. Just think we're friends. I think he was abused, cuz when Lizmo and I tried to get him to come to us, he was really untrusting. We had to get down really low and play with Honey and Oscar before he would even come close.

If they want to get rid of the dog, why not offer to find him a new home? Or yes, report them to the authorities.

I just saw him a few hours ago, he looks ALOT better! Before today, I hadn't seen him close up in two weeks, so I couldn't really tell. But he was really skinny the last few times I had seen him. He is still very wary of people, but I think they are feeding him now. If anyone lives in Alabama and wants a yellow lab around 2 or 3 years old, contact by PM.
