I aquired at a yard sale today because some lady was cooking him in the heat in a glass tank... Anyway he's kinda cute so I need some of the basics. I read a little on the internet about them and I am off to the pet store to get a few things to tide him over. Anyone who has one and can help it would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

I am no help in this area==but would love to see pics of the critter. I am fascinated by them--probably would get one eventually--but need to learn more about them first! Good luck with him.

you'll want atleast a 60 gallon tank
no particle substrate cuz they can get impacted wen eating
you'll want to feed him about 50+ gutloaded crickets a day, and a salad
you'll want to have him under a UV strip light and so he can get within 10 inches of it
and you'll need to have him under a white heat lamp
you can give him a bowl of water, bt sumtimes they wont drink from bowls, so if he wont drink, he will need baths, which can also help him to shed his skin.

Sounds like Stevinski knows the skinny on lizards. I had a white throat monitor years ago and the set up sounds about the same as I had just scaled down a bit.

That is cool that you took him.

The best substrate for a bearded dragon, or any housed lizard is astroturf. Cut two or three pieces the same size as the tank so you can take one out to wash it and still be able to put another one in.

Gutloaded crickets for food....you do realize that now that you have gotten youself a Bearded Dragon that you might also want to house and feed crickets....kind of like temporary pets hehehe.

I have found that a dish that they can lay in is perfect for not only drinking but bathing as well. BD's LOVE baths, or at least the ones that I have dealt with did.

Good luck with him :D

I WANT PICTURES!!!

Ah we have some knowledgable beardie lovers here. Oh good. Better you than me, Little Bat. Those things look scarey to me.
