Kelpies are relatively rare in the US, but when I was originally searching for breeders, there are actually quite a few in the western US (and probably a whole lot more that don't have websites). They are infinitely useful on a ranch. If he's a local dog, I wouldn't be shocked to see a kelpie mix in Texas. The dilute colors of kelpie can have greenish eyes, which is what that dog's look like in the first picture.

I couldn't find a good adult picture, but here's a pup with similar coloring:
If it helps - the picture of the pup above is a blue (dilute of black) and your dog appears to be a fawn (dilute of red), Alpha...

Really? Maybe it's my monitor.. or my eyes.. LOL the puppy looks very blue to me. If they say the puppy's fawn, though, I definitely believe them - fawn doesn't always show up well in photographs.

yes, it looks blue but the colour is known as fawn (well... fawn and tan), a blue kelpie looks almost black in colouring. They can also come in cream, or be saddled or masked. You just don't see them often.

Just a sec, I'll try to find the page I've been reading.

Edit
here it is

Yes... I want a fawn one day! lol
