So, if I were (hypothetically) getting a second dog, and cannot arrange a full transport to get her here, I need Chaz's help brainstorming ideas!

The other option would be to ship, but that also means waiting at least a month or two or three until I have the ~$350 for the shipping fees (crate included), because the additional money I do have goes towards emergency funds, additional food, supplies, gear, toys, etc. I usually have more available but I recently moved, paid rent and a deposit, and this semester's tuition, and this (hypothetical) scenario involving me getting a second dog was not anticipated. I've advertised pet photography services but it's a small college town so not much interest.

The main reason waiting makes me nervous is because I really hate getting anything shipped during the holiday season. It's mildly terrifying for me, so as far as my comfort zone goes, it's either before Thanksgiving or after early/mid January. Also, (hypothetical) dog's birthday is in December and I want to include her in the festivities.

A chip in/Go Fund Me has been suggested, but it don't know how I feel if I can't give back in some way. If anyone has any suggestions, that'd make me super happy!

Hmm... thinking, thinking.

Anything you can sell to help build funds faster? I know that is very simplistic, but sometimes it is worth going through gear to see what you have. Also, if you hoard textbooks like me, sell them to Chegg or Amazon, ect. An extra lens hanging around you don't use. If you are crafty, find something to make.

Another option may be to take some nature photography or something and list them for sale via Etsy or personal site. I would be willing to help you out by buying prints. You could put together a calendar and sell that.

Some people have been doing senior portraits, may be able to market that as well.

I find that many times when you are working towards a goal, many people are willing to pitch in a few extra bucks to help you out. I'm sure I'll think of a few other dumb ideas which I will add later.

It doesn't hurt to start a GoFundMe. I don't think people really expect to be paid back, and nobody who can't or doesn't want to pitch in has to do it.

Where would she (hypothetically) be traveling from?
Southern California - pinkspore was incredibly kind enough to offer her help in the transport, but my other friend who can help for sure is in Northern California and I don't know if I can connect the two. I have a third friend who might be able to help, but she's a way's off.

Awesome, thanks so much for all the ideas! I totally didn't think about selling some stuff on Etsy. My sister could offer up some of her artwork, too, possibly. I'm not sure if she has anything she'd want to part with... but I have talked to her about doing digital commissions and she's willing.

As far as textbooks go, I'm the cheap college student who will scan the pages in to make an ebook, and then return the textbook

I did think about selling lenses - unfortunately the only one I don't use is a really cheap one, and I'd feel bad asking any more than $50 for it. There's a reason why I never use it LOL I thought about senior portraits, too, but I'm just not good at photographing people and don't know if I could do a good job.

And I don't doubt the generosity of Chaz/my friends at all. There have already been friends telling me they'd be willing to pitch in a bit. And of course, I'll be trying to cover what I can myself by picking up extra hours, etc :) I just think it's wrong of me to ask for that when this isn't a matter of health or quality of life... just me really wanting this particular dog.

Uhhh...hypothetically :p

That's true - and like I mentioned, I really don't mean to imply that anyone would want to be repaid in any way. Just that I feel like I should, given the circumstances.

Yes! Pay for secretsssssssss
When in doubt, know that my secrets can always be bought!

Wait...no, that's just confirmation that I'm a terrible person (not that anyone needed it)

Oh My God. Mia's face in your avatar makes your post just a tiny bit scary.

And honestly, if it were any other dog/circumstance, I probably wouldn't have said yes to a second dog so soon.

GOSH DARN IT LADY JUST TELL ME ALREADY.

Do some pet portraits for cheap, maybe get in touch with a local pet store and see if they'll let you offer your photography there for a weekend, for a % of the sales?

The answer here is pretty simple.

Stud fee.
I can't believe I didn't think of this! It was so clear all along. I will have to offer Trent's stud services outside of Oregon though, because I do not want to live in a state overrunning with Puppy Trent's. Puppy Trents are devil monsters.

NOPE. SHAN'T.

That is an awesome idea though, I never even thought of that!! Really wouldn't hurt to ask! I don't really do studio stuff though, so I'd have to look into buying the set up for that. Shouldn't be too difficult if I'm just doing something simple.

Okay, so this happened: http://www.gofundme.com/littlemoth

I've never done a GoFundMe before (or a Chip In or anything similar, for that matter), so I made an account to figure things out and ended up making a page anyway.

How about when/if we hit the halfway mark, I post a photo of her?

I'm going to call up the two local Petsmarts tomorrow or the day after (it's midterm week), and then the two exotic pet stores to see if I can advertise through them in exchange for photography services at events. Then I'll see what my sister can do in the way of artwork, though unfortunately her talent lies entirely in drawing cartoon/cutesy people and she struggles with animals. I'll also see if I have any good landscape/nature/generic photos to make prints out of.

With all that said, if there are those who want to help speed the process along, it would mean so much to me. And/or if you have other ideas for things that I can do, that'd be awesome, too :)

(also, random thought - if I do end up finding 3ish more legs of the transport, I'll definitely paypal everyone back... but there's a pretty big chunk of the transport missing and I don't know anyone further north)

And we thought we were going to hell before...

Uhh... Grace? That silhouette looks an awfully lot like a Labrador....

If you can GUARANTEE me that it's not going to be a Labrador, I will 'go fund you' a little when I get paid on the Friday. :p

Haha, I'm not trying to be tricky on purpose! That was just literally the only image I could find with a silhouette and a question mark. Blame Google Images :p

Okay, AgilityPup suggested the awesome idea of selling t-shirts, so that's happening. Because she's amazing and let me use her text/design, and because I also have an amazing artist friend who whipped up this image, I am selling t-shirts!

I know these are primarily bitey/guardian dog oriented, but it totally applies for other breeds as well. Also, the design is pretty.

If you guys have bitesport friends/bitey dog owners who may be interested, I'd love you for sharing the links C:
