If you want to know how we obtained boomer.... you can read my other thread. I couldn't figure out how to add that thread to this one

Here he is.... maybe you can help me identify what mix he is. I really think the webbed paws and black color lean toward lab... he has other lab features, but not all. His coat is coarse, thick and short. His tail doesn't go with his body.. it reminds me of a rat tail. His paws are huge. His ears are like a sheltie's ears how they stand up and the tips fold foward. He has a white patch on his chest but the rest is solid black. Oh, and I thought he only had a little puppy breath but after having him yawn in front of me a few times.... it's all puppy breath.. so he must be young.

I'm not sure what he really looks like...lol. I just have a feeling he's gonna be a big dog. Did you see the one photo that shows his enormous paws? And for him to be this big already and I'm guessing he's just barely 10 or 12 weeks! I've had big dogs before... but I have a little dog now and I got used to it. I guess I'll have to get used to having a big dog again. AND.. he chews absolutely everything he can get a hold of. You can't take your eyes off him for a second or he's into something. I was uploading my photos and all of a sudden he's dragging Arielle's jacket across the floor like it's his new prized posession...lol.

Puppies have this very distinct puppy breath when they are real young. It's a smell you can't mistaken. I was trying to figure out how old this pup is and was correlating it to him still having strong puppy breath, which means he's definately a young pup. Have you never smelled puppy breath??

Oh my gosh... I just read this article on puppy breath. I think Boomer was tossed out to fend for himself as a bitty baby... waaahhh. I think my guess was right.. he's probably just BARELY 10 weeks old... if that. And to think that he's this big already makes me wonder how big he will get :yikes:

Here's the puppy breath article:

Puppy breath

Puppy breath is an informal term often used among dog breeders to describe the particular odor that emanates from the mouths of very young (unweaned) baby dogs (puppies).

Some people claim to find the smell of puppy breath to be pleasing. Others claim that it smells rank.

Claims to the latter are likely from people who are hypersensitive to the smell of the mother dog's milk, which can be encrusted or spilled on or about the puppy's mouth and face. Alternatively, the scent could potentially arise from trace elements or vapors of the milk and digestive fluids emanating from the puppy's stomach up through its esophagus via the natural process of burping to relieve gaseous build-up.

Puppy breath tends to disappear abruptly at about six to ten weeks of age, when it is replaced by the typical "dog breath" of adult dogs.

He looks like a sheltie/lab to me with maybe another breed in there as well. Boy, he looks right at home with you guys, lol! I would say he looks like he is 12 weeks old.

He's adorable and totally looks like he's going to be one of those "once in a lifetime" dogs.

Good luck. :)

He is the cutest. If he really was dumped, I can't believe someone would do that to that cute face. He's so precious!

He looks like he fits right in with your family.
