:yikes:

Please say a prayer for my little guy today.

At approximately 6:30 am this morning, Max ingested about a palm size amount of mouse poisoning that was left behind the couch. I was making breakfast and he snuck behind there. When I noticed he had disappeared I called him and I could hear him behind the couch and I heard his collar hit the mason jar lid. I knew right away what had happened. :( I had forgotten it was back there and also thought that I had made it so that he couldn't get back there.

I called my husband and then poison control. They told me to give him peroxide to make him throw up. It worked and he threw up several times and there were a palmfull of undigested pellets that came backup. After the vets opened, took him up there and they gave him a syringe full of activated charcoal and a prescription for Vitamin K which he has to take for the next 6 weeks as a precautionary measure.

The vet said that if it got into him system that he would start to show symptoms Saturday or Sunday. I have to bring him back in Monday morning for lab work.

I am so worried about him right now. He drives me crazy, but he is my little furbaby and I don't know what I would do without him.

Scary! But you did everything absolutely right. Chances are good that he'll be just fine.

Oh no! I hope he's fine, he should be, you got to him soon enough. Virgo (surprise, surprise  ) got into rat poison the other summer and that's what we did and she's fine.

I think he'll be fine.
It sounds like you did everything you should have done.

We had a BC that ate a whole can of rat poison - he came in got an injection of Vitamin K and was completely fine.

Just wanted to update everyone on Max. He seems to be just fine and is back to his old ornery self. I kept checking his belly and gums for signs of bleeding, but he never got sick. Thanks goodness! He still gets his Vitamin K until it runs out.

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes! They mean alot!

Glad to hear everything seems ok. That must have been very scary. Someone poisoned my brothers dog with rat poison and they almost lost her.

How are your nerves?
