M
I want to thank all of you truly sweet folks who spent the time and effort to even think about the absence of my presence. And for those who felt that I attacked them personally, I apologize. I am NOT batwitted enough to attack folks personally that I don't know. I Do at times attack what is said when it is said in a snide or derogatory way. I am afraid that I used to take some things personally. Which was what resulted in my "forced vacation".
Gaddy has put it beautifully---she has found what works for her and her dogs, and that is what she sticks by. What I post is based on things that I have found over the years works for many different dogs, of many different breeds, but NOTHING will work for every dog on the planet.
And I CAPITALIZE words for emphasis......not to yell. It is easier than doing __this__ for emphasis, rofl.
As for the age issue------it is not that younger people are automatically stupid. It is that with the passage of years there are more opportunities to garner knowledge and experience. I know full well how frustrating it is to have people tell a young person "Just wait a few years". But it is true. In my 30 years being owned by dogs, I have had more than enough chance to encounter all kinds of weird things, all kinds of dog problems etc. I have also had plenty of time to work with these various weird things, and formulate methods for working around them. So I throw them out for others to consider. What ticks me off is people who don't even bother to give something a try---they just condemn it immediately because __they__ can't see how it would work. And they can't see it because they haven't been around the block enough times to SEE it put into action!!!
Of course everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion as to what they think about something. But NONE entitled to condemn another person and what that person says when they have no idea of what is being discussed, no experience with what is being discussed, and NO clue as to the results of what is being discussed because they have never seen it, heard of it, or tried it!!!!! THAT is just being rude and vindictive. It is great to say that something like debarking gives you the heebie geebies. It is quit another to label someone cruel and abusive because they may have felt such a procedure was necessary to have done.
Dog people and pet people stand at a great divide. The show folk have the advantage of living in both worlds, because our dogs are our pets as well as part of a sport we indulge in. Dog people live life based on a multi-dog lifestyle. Totally different from the pet owner with 3 or 4 dogs. Try living with 35 dogs!!!!! Organization, organization, organization, rofl.
Fortunately, I have said all there is to say over the months. Having happy healthy dogs is not all that hard, or that much of a mystery. You find what works for you and your dogs, and you do it.
Oh.... And on the issue of food...........I tried putting the kids on a "better quality food", for about 4 months. Then I got disgusted because several of them were walking around looking like horny moths had gotten to them. I put them all back on the crummy Ol' Roy Bites And Bones, and the baldies have gotten their coats growing back in!!! Another case of you have to do what works for your dogs!!!!!
You are all great people, and I shall try to walk more softly, and only carry a twig. (For you younger folks......that refers to Teddy Roosevelt who told people to walk softly and carry a big stick. I guess to club thickheaded people over the head with?????)
Have a great day. I am out of strength and words. God Bless.
