I just have to share exciting news!

McGee just rang the bell on her own to go outside and go potty! I was in the kitchen when she did it, rather than at my usual spot (poised to give her a treat when she rings) and she did it all by herself. Hooray!

Yesterday our trainer came over for our first in-home training session. I was curious what she would try to teach us, but since the sessions come included with our rocking puppy socialization group, I decided it couldn't hurt.

Well, she was a bit disappointed. Most of the things she generally goes over with new puppy owners were things we were already doing! In particular, she was really impressed by our potty system, and I told her that McGee, at 13.5 weeks old, now has a stretch of 4 "accident-free" days.

Now, this morning she is ringing the bell on her own! I'm not saying she's reliable or that we are out of the potty woods by any means, but what great strides for a little girl!

Anyway, just had to share.

Heheh . . . . that's awesome! Gotta love it when that happens. I thought I'd lose my mind with Shiva's housetraining - I hadn't had to potty train one in EONS. Buffy and Bimmer never had to be taught - they just wouldn't consider going in the house *whew* Thankfully, Kharma had the same mind-set that Buffy had. Housetraining a puppy who pees a pint at a time is no fun!

What a good puppy! Once my dog caught on that the door opened when he rang the bell, it was easy. My new girl will ring and ring and ring---jeepers, I can't run that fast to the door :)

Yeah, I remember that phase with my older dog. I finally had to accept that sometimes he would ring it just to go out and play, but I'd rather have that than the alternative messes in the house!
