Hello everyone,
I'm new here and was wondering if anyone is going through the same thing as I am. My dog Cherokee was just diagnosed with a malignant tumor in her lymph glands in her groin area. It has not matastasized (sp?) yet which is a good thing. Her vet put her on an anti-inflamatory (100mg Deramaxx) and an
anti-biotic (100mg Doxycycline). We have decided to add a low dose chemo drug (10 mg Tamoxifen) that was used in the "Navy Protocol", which is a great article by the way. All of her vital organs are healthy and for the most part she acts perfectly normal, her only problem is the tumor is pressing on her rectum which is making it difficult to pass her stools, they're actually "flat". With changing her diet to include more fiber like pumpkin & zuchinni etc. I'm hoping to add a few more quality years to my best friends life. Has anybody had any experience with these drugs? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear you are going through this. Do a search on this forum for Essiac. It's a herbal mixture that some people have really found helps fight tumours. For pets and themselves.

We'll be here if you need to talk.

(((hugs)))

Thanks Saje,
My Mother-in-law tried Essiac tea when she was diagnosed with lung cancer. I like the fact it's a natural way to go too. I have a Holistic vet to talk to also. I'm sure I'll need you guys when the time comes.....thanks again

Boy this has been a long day. Cherokee has adenocarcinoma and the prognosis is not good, I guess I already knew it, just didn't want to except it. I haven't known you good people very long and I want to thank you for you're replies and good wishes. I very much believe in the Rainbow Bridge and I will see her there! I know she's not gone yet, it's been a day full of tears just thinking about what we are facing. So, so sad :(

Something Beautiful

This is something that was sent to me in another dog health chat site and I want to share it with you guys. I think it's beautiful and it's keeping me going.

"Speak to me often for your voice is the sweetest music - as you must know by the wagging of my tail when your footsteps fall upon my waiting ear. My fate is always safest in your hands"

This makes me tear up just typing it. Hope you all enjoy it!

I've gone through this too many times with my Goldens and my grand dogs..........It's never easy as we never know when the time is right we just have to go with our hearts to do the right thing...knowing it will break our hearts. The pain never goes away .

I'm so very sorry for what you're facing. It is the hardest thing. Your poem is indeed beautiful and you're wonderful to be accepting enough to be able to let her go when the time comes. Just so terribly sorry for your heartache...

:) It is so comforting to be able to share my worries and concerns with all of you and I thank you very much. All of your prayers and good wishes are felt on my end and it keeps me strong enough to be strong for my girl. Thanks again and I'll never forget you! I'm not leaving, but I have to go back to work next week and as you all know there's never enough hours in the day to accomplish everything we want.
Much Love To You and Your Furbabies....:)
