My mini dox has been on Innova (evo) pretty much his whole life. We tried a couple other's here and there, but always went back to Innova. He ate it, kept his weight excellent, no ill effects on his part (gas, poop, etc).

Recently, the pet store I had been buying it from stopped carrying it, claiming that Innova was bought out by Procter and Gamble, and would no longer be the high quality food it HAD been, and so they refuse to carry it. I don't know if that's true or not?

Right now my little guy is eating IAMS - and I notice he eats more often (as we free-feed), and it seems to me that he has lost some weight (he's only about 8lbs to begin with, so....)

BOTTOM LINE: Does anyone know if INNOVA has in fact been bought by a larger corporation, and if true, does that effect the quality of the brand? AGAIN IF TRUE, what would you guys suggest? I live in a Dallas, TX suburb, so I have access to major pet store chains and other major chains (petsmart, petco, costco, sam's, etc) I'm not a fan of buying bags from Costco because my dog is TINY and 6lb bags last us 2+ months, so those GIANT bags would last ... well you get the idea. :lol-sign:

ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATE.

Natura Pet (EVO, Innova, Healthwise, Cali Naturals, Karma) has been bought by Proctor and Gamble as of June 2010.

The best replacement for EVO would be Orijen. You can find where in your area carries it on their website.

It has. So far I haven't found an acceptable replacement (mine eat the EVO RM and Bimmer does NOT like poultry or fish based foods) that's not far beyond my means. I haven't seen a discernible difference -- yet, but the place I get it from is as skeptical as I am and are actively looking for a plausible alternative.

For now, though, we're sticking with the EVO RM. It's still far and away superior to anything IAMS or Eukanuba (who are also owned by big conglomerates and have been for a long time now) have to offer.

If I had small dogs, I'd pony up on one of the more expensive ones, but for 3 large dogs the price difference here is impossible right now. :(

Um... Iams is also owned by Proctor and Gamble, who were the ones that purchased the Natura line. It would be better to stay on EVO than to downgrade (big time!) to Iams (if you're going to stay on P&G food, that is).

I guess I just find it funny that you swapped from a food that's at least still decent, to a food that was bought (and destroyed) by P&G 20 years ago.
