I've most often heard that referred to as "prey model" raw feeding. If you google search using those terms you might come up with soem good links.

I feed raw but prefer to keep the risks as low as possible so I mostly feed the bones coarsely ground or small enough and soft enough to be easily digestible even if they were swallowed whole ie chicken necks and backs.

Some hard core raw feeders would think I'm a wussy or that I'm missing out on some of the teeth cleaning benefits but my dogs teeth are sparkling. One of my dogs is a gobbler and will swallow big chunks when she gets excited so I really don't feel comfortable feeding prey model to her. I also don't particularly want to deal with the mess on a daily basis.

1) I think it's awesome, if you have a good source & dogs large enough to feed whole chickens and rabbit. I can only feed my two portions of chickens and rabbits, they're both about 40 lbs and only need 2-3% of their weight. They would both be reeaally chubby if I gave them each a whole chicken.

I do franken-prey style feeding, so over the course of about a week they get all kinds of parts from different animals. I CAN give them each a whole game hen, which they really love! I've also bought whole rabbits, but I have to divide it into 1/4ths, so over a few days they will have eaten a whole rabbit, but not all at once.

2) I have links to really awesome yahoo & livejournal groups!

I feed whole or prey model as often as I can. I raise chickens, ducks and rabbits for this purpose.

My dogs prefer these meals over their other raw meals.
I think variety is still of great importance.

My Weims will eat a whole rabbit, chicken or duck at a meal, and their other meal for that day is light, or perhaps before a fast day. By fast, I mean that one out of every 7 - 10 days they are not fed. This usually follows a heavy meal day. (Note: Puppies under 6 months still receive one out of their three meals on a fast day.)
