ok...who stole spring? it's been raining for days, and the temp is a whopping 50. suddenly I'm tossed back to fall. I'm even making a pot of soup. blah...I want to be grilling! I positively refuse to cave in to the almighty furnace, but I sure wish I hadn't been so eager to take all the firewood off the back porch. toss in a bit of wind, and it's downright miserable. so whoever stole spring, please return...no questions will be asked...in fact you will be my forever hero.

We've got Blackberry Winter here . . . chilly and rainy, right on schedule as the blooms are forming on the blackberry brambles. I just remind myself that the weather is cooperating to give me big, luscious blackberries from July through August . . . and try not to curse the mud . . .

Yes, I'm tired of the rain. We're on our 7th day of straight rain in accumulation of around 10 to 14 inches. Our Governor requested for federal disaster aid because of the damages it caused. Lots of roads in my town have been barricaded due to floods, though the towns a bit south of us has had it worse. I want to play in my garden. :(

These are pictures of York, Maine.

The weather guy here said we're caught in a 'winter storm' pattern (which usually happens in March), cold air is cycling down from Canada and the weather pattern keeps circling and bringing back the rain. The grass is very happy - the lawn mower is not.
Would any Canadians like to come retrieve their cold air? I think we're done with it now. ;)

You have GOT to send me some of those!! *drool* I usually scour the wild bushes down in the Ozarks, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get down there when they're ripe this year or not.

Debi: Someone has stolen May as well! Last month it was like July, this month we've rewound back to March. It's cool, it's windy, it's cloudy everyday and usually rains for at least a little bit. The grass is loving it, the mower is not.

Yup, it's been pretty nasty here also. Rain and temperatures in the 50s. But before that we had 2 straight weeks of sun and 70 degree weather... so I guess we're paying for that! Oh well, at least it's good for the greenery.

Our berries are a cross between wild and tame berries. A lot of them get as big as your two thumbs together. One summer I sold them to a chef at one of the fancy restaurants in Gatlinburg. He quit buying them from anyone else because he swore ours were 80% sweeter and more flavorful than any he'd ever gotten hold of before :)

I need to figure out how to ship frozen stuff reliably. I freeze most of the berries individually the day I pick them, then, after they're solid, double pack them in zipper freezer bags. And this year I'm going to try to find time to make some blackberry freezer jam. I'd love to try making some blackberry wine . . . I've got bottles saved :D

Our Gov. Romney declared a state of emergency as of Sunday morning. The Eastern side of the State are more affected than we are on the Western side.

Poor Taylor had to play a soccer game Sunday morning (10:30 am) and Last night (6:45 pm). Both games were tied :) They now are 6 wins and 2 tied! My baseball hat has been on my head since Sunday, LOL. All us soccer moms spot eachother by the pattern on their umbrellas now. It's hard to look down the side line through umbrellas! Ashley's softball games were cancelled, thank you!

We finally have SUN! Yay! First time in week! It's peeking through the clouds, but I'll take that. Welcome back Mr. Sun. :D
