Tessa... wish my daughter had had your smarts about this when she was a teenager. Only name brands would do. Now that she's paying for her own clothes, she's changed her tune. We call it "retro" in my area and what I couldn't give to my daughter from my closet then, now sells for ridiculous prices in these stores. Once she saw that, she's cleaned me out and is a big fan of thrift stores!

Teens my age think thrift stores, goodwills, etc are "gross". They'd much rather spend $120+ on a pair of jeans from a name brand store. And lets not forget the $50 shirts! That is what makes me "odd" :p

Personally, I'm fine with shopping at places like Goodwill, thrift stores, walmart, and maybe the very occasional JC Penny. (Not like I have money to spend at more expensive places.Ive been wearing walmart, goodwill, and garage sale clothes my entire life.)
Post pics? You might be called odd because of your fashion sense, not where you shop. :p

For me, its all name brand stuff. I wouldn't even walk into a thrift store really, nevermind buy from there. My dad shops at thrift stores all the time though. He loves it because he can get cheap stuff for work. But all the stuff he uses for work gets ruined so it makes sense to me. :p

Everything in thrift stores around here is so outdated. And it's not outdated enough to be called vintage either.

But the sales at our stores here are pretty good. Just the other day I got $100 worth of stuff for only $50. Who can argue? Name brand stuff for half the price? :D

And I make my own money and buy my own $100 jeans and all that. My parents don't buy my clothes, never really have. My grandmother will take me shopping sometime, and her taste in fashion is just as expensive as mine, haha.

I dunno. I like my Guess, and Billabong and all that. Everything else around here that you don't pay good money for is so cheaply made, and doesn't fit right. But then again, when you're proportioned like me, nothing really fits right, haha.

I give a pretty penny for a shopping spree at old navy. I think i would get 5 pairs of jeans FIRST! Thrift stores are fine if your not 5'10 with 37 inch legs. I hate it when i feel like Jethro Clamet.
they must market clothes to women around 5'5 cause EVERY pair of pants...be it jeans or cords (that's all I wear) I buy.....I SWEAR they are miles toooooooo long. yet petites are too short. I'm 5'3....the one with her cords rolled up like a dork (cause I refuse to hem!) LOL

Debi, I am 5 ft nothing so I feel your pain. I could use the excess leg material in jeans to make a flaming denim parachute. I don't hem either so have great big rolled up blobs round my ankles - like built in leg weights.

You go, tessa. I'm a reverse snob too. Where my friend will crow about the lovely brand name jacket she got for an obscene amount of money, I boast about getting something that looks about the same for €5 at the local car boot sale :)

Jeans are always too long for me too. But I just take scissors to them and cut off the bottom so that they are the right lenght. :D

Look at the thread titled "New Suits/Outfits".

I'm not odd because I dress weird. I actually have pretty good taste as far as picking clothing that is normal. (Besides, all I ever wear are school t-shirts/dog t-shirts and a pair of jeans.)

If it is anything that makes me an odd teen, Alexa's~Mom, it is not my fashion sense. It is the fact that I am mature, I know what is important in life, I show dogs, and that I just don't CARE to get into that whole stupid ridiculous high school life. :p

The whole fashion thing, is really not just highschool life. :p

I pride myself in being a very mature teen with adult interests. I definetly know what's important in life. But that's not going to stop me from buying my expensive clothing. I like the quality, and I know its something I can trust.

Everything in my life is quality over quantity.

EDIT: And definetly, in my opinion, is high school life not stupid. Its the part of your life that means the most. Its when you, and your friends are growing up. Its when you make the most important decisions, yet try to have as much fun as possible. I think its the hardest, and most important time of your life, because its preparing you for your future.
