"Caused you your puppy?" Like, you mean, they paid you for a puppy by check and the check was canceled??

payed you by check for what?

I thought the breeders of the GSD would accept a post dated check for your pup?

I must have missed something, sorry I haven't been on that much in the last few days. I have been getting behind. LOL

I hope the will make good on the check though.

Will you still be able to get your pup? I hope so.

Best of Luck,
Julie.

Edit: Nevermind, it takes me forever for a post, but I have since figured it out. LOL

dogsitting. They said they would take a postdated check for final payment but need a deposit.Which I now dont have since they scammed me for this check.Unless I have this money now they cant hold the pup for me so no I wont be getting her.

It's probably too late for this, but I found out the hard way (by going through a similar bad-check-incident) to have the payment agreement for my training biz in writing. I got a friend to help me out with the legal jazz, and put the payment agreement on the same page with a liability waiver which states that the dog's health is the owner's responsiblity, not mine. That way, if and when someone doesn't want to pay, you have a record in writing with their signature. You might think about doing the same thing when you dog-sit. But, again, probably too late for that. Sorry, I sure hope it comes out okay. If you make a partial down-payment would the breeder hold on to your pup for you for a couple of weeks?

Bout the court thing, it may not be worth it (unless it's a vast sum they owe you).

Lawyer fees alone are generally higher than the sum you'd get.

From now on I am only accepting cash. The puppy is ready to go on the 18th so they want a deposit now or cant hold her sadly. They have others interested so I am out of luck.I am upset but at least I am on a waiting list for another breeder for a spring or summer puppy. This sucks though.

It would be small claims court since they now owe me $200 for my services plus $25 for my banks insufficent fund charge since they stopped the payment. No lawyers would be involved but I have been told it costs $60 to file for the small claims.

Oh. I've never been to a small claims court. Figured it was the same as a regular court (not that I've been to one of those either but you never hear about small claims courts in teh newspaper or on TV or anything).

You're not watching the right shows. Haven't you ever seen "Judge Joe Brown"? He's the king of small claims.

If you win, you recover the court costs. But it may take months for you case to be scheduled.
