I'm wondering if someone could give me some advice as to how to simmer my dog's exhuberance! She's a german shorthaired pointer and apparently this breed is very energetic, lively and somewhat hyper by nature. But, she's now almost 2 and she still goes crazy whenever she thinks we're going out or if someone is coming over. She does somersaults in the air and literally bounces off the walls in anticipation. I've learned to ignore her when she acts this way because I don't want to encourage over-excitability. I walk away and only take her out once she's calmed down. She still jumps up now and again and I'm finding it difficult to calm her down in general. I've tried all the training advice...... Do I just continue with the training and hope one day it'll sink in and she'll just be calm and controlled or is there something else I can start doing to help this situation? I feel like I should put her on ritalin sometimes!!!!! Other than that she's well behaved and well adjusted. Just too much pent up energy!! Help.
