Both of my labs were destructive chewers until around two years of age. Now don't get me wrong they still chew, but can somehow distinguish between what is allowed and what is not.
Some of you know we have a new home, and are constructing steps and walls in the basement, well all the pine board scraps somehow end up on the dog beds........ALL CHEWED UP. I mean destroyed~
But yet there are thousands of dollars of tools and stacked lumber lying around...and it is never touched. thank god! Not to mention all the kids toys, and they are untouched also. Eventually they learn what is off limits and what is okay.

Ah, Thats good news. We drove over to the breeder where we got her yesterday, and the girls showed us hands-on proper discipline. And she calmed right down. Its working! We were being too lenient and inconsistent. So today we will work on consistency and try to be a bit more forceful with the word "no". Ive been saying 'please dont bite', that wont work, have to say 'no biting!' and I must not change the wording. Also my husband and I must use the exact same words.
We also found a local retriever socializing group that meets on Sundays, and this should be a help too.
We are making headway, and I realize that we have to do this right away, as she turned 10 weeks old today.
