I've seen some so called reputable show breeders that are horrible breeders as well. One gentleman who breeds and show (and very respected member of the CKC) and he is a judge as well....he bred a 13 year old Newf
Every one knew, but what can you do. Even in my area the SPCA has an agreement with the local puppy mill, when the old dogs are finished being bred they are to be given over to the SPCA. There are no fines and as long as the dogs have food and shelter there is nothing much else they can do.
There is also a big name Giant Schnauzer breeder down in the states called Skansen Kennels. I talked to a few people and there was a big thing on the internet (I can't find it now) complaining about this kennel. They are big time mass producers, produce and sell dysplasic pups and have horrible living conditions for the dogs. In the show world this breeder is well respected. I am going to try and find that write up on this kennel...all I am going by is hear say.
