Hi everyone. My name is Tanya and my dog's name is Dixie. She is a basset hound and has been with me since she was a puppy. Hope to touch base with fellow dog lovers here as well as to get more information about dogs in general. :)

Thanks

Hi everyone. Thanks for making me feel welcome. Yes, I'll make sure to post some more pics of my Dixie.

On another note, does anyone know anything about pet microchipping? I saw an article about it and I dont know if I should get my pet "chipped."

Well, anyway here's the link that I read. Please let me know what you think.

yes microchipping would be a great thing to get done, especially with a basset who when she gets away will just keep going on a scent. It's simple, my vet offers to do it when they get spayed/neutered but they can do it anytime. It's just like getting a shot. Whenever a shelter gets a dog they check for a chip and if your dog has one he goes home, if not...depends on the shelter he'll get a certain amount of days to see if someone comes to get him then either gets put up for adoption or is put to sleep. If a found dog is brought to the vet or gets injured and is brought to the vet they will be checked for a chip. It's something you should definitely do!
