I have been leaving Tynan out of his crate during the day to see how he does. Funny thing is that I would leave him out of his crate when he was about 6 months old and he wouldn't get into trouble and he was loose in the house alone. Then Lincoln moved in 100%. Now that Lincoln is here I had to crate Tynan because they would get into things together.

The first day I left the two out there were no problems, the 2nd day Tynan decided he wanted to eat the wall!!! Tynan did this before when I had to put him in the laundry room with the smaller dogs because I needed the large crate for a foster temporarily. I thought it was because he didn't want to be in the laundry with the smaller dogs (they can get a bit grumpy) Could that be an indication that he's not enjoying being with another dog that's a bit more on the annoying side all day?

Tynan never does this at night (he's loose then too) and never does it when i'm home.

How can I get him to not eat the walls when i'm not home? My goal is to not crate him anymore and I understand if maybe he's not at that point yet but perhaps some of you guys will have some suggestions that I can try.

Tynan is usually such a behaved boy, maybe it's his teenage years are coming on, lol.

Dogs chew because they are bored, or they are anxious when left alone.
Just crate him until you can work on whichever issue it is with him.
I have 5-6 yr. old dogs I still will not leave uncrated - they just get into stuff and I'd rather prevent issues than have to fix them when I get home.
