I am a dog lover from way back. Our beloved dog passed away in February of this year, and hubby & I agreed that we would not get another dog, as it is too hard when we lose them.
Out of the blue, my Dad calls me early yesterday to tell me that someone dumped three puppies in his yard during the night! Grrrrrrrrr! That makes me so angry!
I grab some leashes, a crate and pick up a bag of food and go over there. Sure enough, three healthy-looking Husky or Malamute mixes. All adorable with sky blue eyes and about 8-9 weeks old.
Wouldn't you know it, I found myself becoming instantly attached to them. I called my hubby and he sounded very excited and we decided that we would keep one. Then I get on the phone with a friend who runs a pet rescue. She made room for the other two, so all three of these precious pups will eventually have good homes.
We are "small dog people" but this pup will not stay small for long. So this is a new frontier for us!
When I got our new puppy home, it was apparent she had never been inside a house before. She was terrified. But now that she understands it's okay, she enjoys being inside. All the rain we had yesterday might have persuaded her that inside was better than outside! LOL! The flea bath she had to get may have also had something to do with it. Poor thing was covered in fleas!
Our first night together was rough, but last night, she slept through the night and seems very content. She is doing well with the potty training too.
She finally got a name yesterday. We were trying to figure out a name that suited her. A friend suggested Cookie and it fits her perfectly!
Cookie & I hope to make many new friends here.
