Guess What Breed Opie Is...

I'm not sure how the breed test works, either. The way they explained it, they don't have to know the parents. Just like a DNA test can tell if somebody's gender, race, etc. without comparing to their parent's sample... the breed test works the same way. They tested thousands of "purebreed" dogs and identified the genes that make a lab a lab and a golden a golden, for example. They've "verified" 38 breeds.
If Opie includes any of those 38 breeds, they'll show up in the test as either primary (prevalent) or secondary (obsure), depending on some measure of amount. If he's one of the other 110 or so breeds... we won't know.
I'm doing this as much for fun as for anything else. Not like I'm going to turn him back in after six years because he's the wrong breed!
