I know it can't be good. Please help. Anything $20 and up. Just forget about it. I can't get them to buy the "expensive" so they call it stuff. It annoys me. Please don't get me started. I'll keep it at this. I have negotiated nicely, and now its to the point where the negotiating part has been broken. I will not say who. Thank you for reading! P.S. I thank everyone who has given me helpful information! :)

eww hey there was a documentary on TV about pet food, where they took sawdust, old boots and motor oil and made a 'dog food' that would pass the FDA requirements for pet food, even though it was inedible.

Yuck! Nasty, nasty, nasty! I smelled this stuff, and I don't want to eat it!! Maybe I should make them eat it. Cook dinner, that has dogfood in it. :lol-sign:

Oh barrrrrf........ check the label.. it should be there.. also check PWC's thread, apparently there's a Wal-Mart food better than Iams.. you might go with that instead. Most of the cheaper, Wal-mart type stuff I see is so much worse than Iams.

Uh, that link took me to a page with three chainsaws.

I strongly suggest not feeding those to your dog. Very bad for his teeth.
:lol-sign: I don't feed my dogs chain saws! I feed them food. I think.. :lol-sign: Its called Retriever something, it was put in the trash can that we keep the food in. So I have NO clue what the ingreidents are. I suppose they put it in there, so I wouldn't want to take it back to get what I wanted to get.

Sounds like you're having the same go around with your parents as I am with mine. I finally offered to pay for it, and now the dogs are eating better. :)

I found it on their site, and all it says under ingredients is - "lineolic acid" unless it's the retriever "Hi Pro" then the ingredients are "Calcium Phosphorus, Vitamin A & Omega 6 Fatty Acids." At $15.48 for a 50 lb bag, I don't think you'll have much luck talking your parents into better food, but there is the Kirkland food from Costco that isn't TOO much more expensive, maybe you can work out a deal with them where you cover the difference in cost (I honestly don't know what the Kirkland costs, but I think it's around $20 for 40lbs?) The Costco stuff isn't that bad at all, it's not top of the line, but I'm sure most of us humans here don't eat the best everyday either, and I don't think you'll need to feed as much of that as you do the other food, so it may be cheaper, which presents a good opportunity for you to show your parents what you've learned in economics class. (i.e. if food "a" costs 25 cents per cup and you feed 4 cups per day, food "b" costs 30 cents per cup and you feed 3 cups per day, which is cheaper?) Good luck though, and maybe send your parents to one of the good dog food websites out there, http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?page=main, http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/ I've talked to many people who swear that even Iams and Science Diet are good foods, they read them sites and won't even donate what's left of their food to the pound when they buy new food.

You might check to see if your Tractor Supply carries Diamond Naturals. At the TSCs around Oklahoma City it's $19.98/40lbs for the adult chicken formula and $21.48/40 lb for the lamb and the ingredients are much better than the Retriever stuff. Maybe your parents will be more accepting if they can get it at the same place.
