Why do dogs occasionally eat grass? Some people seem to think that it is just normal behavior, others say it means your dog is ill?

Some one can tell me if this is just myth or not, but I have heard that it calms there stomachs.

my dog had vomited twice in one day and was whining to go out. He has already gone out recently but I thought he might have diarrhea so i brought him out. Turns out he just wanted to eat grass, a lot of grass. i do think they do it when they are sick, I'm not sure if it calms their stomachs or induces vomiting, I've heard both.

well, i seriously think that Ruckus eats grass only because he likes the taste.

but i have seen dogs many times eat grass, then puke up a bit of foamy slobber with some grass pieces in it.

I've heard the same thing as Jennifer, as well as being told it's a myth. But avoid managed lawns because a lot of them can be treated with chemicals and harmful to dogs.

I have always been led to believe that they will eat the grass to make themselves vomit, if they are feeling ill.

I've heard both: it calms, and it makes them vomit (which if that's true, it doesn't work with either of my dogs)
I've also heard they're both myths

So I asked Maddie, and she said it tastes good :p
:lol-sign:
