Hi! Just wanted to say hello, and introduce myself (again) and my new pup.
I sadly lost my LOVE, a boxer named Chase a while back, it will be 2 years in November, the following July, I lost another dog, a dog that was with me since 1994, and he was 2 when rescued. After my animal shows, I kept the second dog. Chase and Duke became brothers instantly. Chase, my heart, died of brain cancer with NO NOTICE, Duke, declined slowly, but both were lost within one year. To say the least, my heart broke.
After a year and 1/2 (about) I decided to get another dog... I had things in my head that told me not to, and things that said go for it, and different breeds that, if I decided to get, what I wanted.....
I sooooo got a dog that I never thought of.... A rescue that landed in my lap...
I ended up with a puppy, that I named Marley... (no, no connection with the book Marley and Me... I have not read it, but my mother tells me it is great...
The name just fit him....
He is part Great Dane and part German Shepard. He looks GD, but has a few brown spots on his ankles (bracelets), and a few splashes above his eye brows, other than that, he look great dane. He is almost fully black, with the blue merle across his nose, one splash of white on is neck, that look like the #1, and on his stomach and some of his feet. His coat is also as short as a Great Danes, not like a shepard.
His eyes are the lightest, whitest blue that I have ever seen.
He will be 20 weeks on May 10th. Well over a month ago, he has learned to (voice and/or hand commands) to sit, down, off, shake, hi-5, walk loose leash, heel, walk backwards, come, speak, drop it, take it, etc... he is very cute. Pushing over 50 pounds now...lol!
His mom was 140 lbs, his dad, the german shep. was 6 months old when he impregnated her, I met him at 8 months old and he was huge. I am wondering how big Marley will get.
Anyways, just wanted to share! I have pics, but I am so not good about putting them up, cause I don't know how to. (I know I stink at that).
But thanks for allowing me to share.
Amy
