I'm getting my collie puppy in two weeks! He is sable and white and is six weeks old at the moment. The drive there is about three hours, so i was just wondering if anyone had any tips on keeping him comfortable and happy in the car.

Make sure you take potty breaks and walk around some. Take a towel in case he gets car sick, my mama's dog threw up on their first ride, wasn't my mom's car  Congrats on your puppy

Will there be 2 people in the car with the pup ??? If so, have a box with towel etc. in back seat with someone next to the pup to comfort and love.....have a stack of paper on the floor incase it looks like a " whoops" is coming. Take outside breaks. If alone with pup, you must have a cage and ear plugs.!!

Yes, use a crate if possible. With my pitbull mix I gave the breeders a fluffy squeaky toy that they rubbed on the momma and had her play with for a day or two to get the momma's scent on their and he still sleeps with it and snuggles it to this day it is his "baby". I doubt mama's scent is still on it but he doesn't care, it's his special toy and he doesn't let anyone else even look at it (except me and my hubby).

Whoa, i hope he doesn't get car sick! But i'm hoping to get someone else to drive so i can be in the back with him. I'm also going to give him a little ginger bread biscuit, as the ginger settles the stomach. Thanks for all your suggestions, i am so brining a towel now.

Julie, that's an excellent idea for the special toy. I know I've heard it before but I don't know that many people who do it! THat's so sweet. :D

If it's a nice temperature (weather) by you, have the windows open a little to let some fresh air in; sometimes this helps just in case the puppy is a little car sick. Congrats & can't wait to see pics!

I always made a rectangular toys out of fake fur ( golden of course ! :) ) and gave it with the pup after it had all the good smells of Mom and pups on it.

We made a 6 hour drive to get Gracie. She pooped twice in the van before she even got a halfhour down the road! I had a list of things to take with me and forgot the newspapers so we had to find a walmart to go get cleaning stuff. After that she did fine. No more accidents. We stopped alot to walk and potty. I held her alot. We had the windows open so I dont know if that helped or not. You might want to take something for yourself in case the puppy pees on you. My daughter was peed on when bringing her puppy home.
