Protection also comes to mind.
I thought you were the 4% BF, shredded, muscular MMA guy. Is that not good enough? What disciplines of MA are you trained in (since MMA means, mixed, as in, more than one, discipline.)

What exactly do you need protection from?

MA is not worth crap when the other guy has a weapon.

The criminals who are generally better armed than I am.

I know MA isn't worth a crap when someone is armed. That was just a poke at him because he says he's 4% and shredded and training in MMA. So many people think because they watch a rerun of UFC that they can do it too and the reality is, hardly any people can succeed in that venue.

How many times in your life have you been confronted by a criminal with a gun? I'm almost 43 and have never been put in that situation. The problem is, if someone points a gun at you, you don't have time to get your own gun out, and if you do, you better be ready to use it. Most likely the person on the end of the other gun is a little more crazy than you and is in a desparate state of mind. I think it'd be easier to give them what they want and move on. A wallet can be replaced. Your children's father cannot.

I watch UFC, but I would never be able to compete, because I dont train at that level. I do it for fun and general physical fitness. I never said I was an MMA champion, i just said I train in in. I practice a mix of Muay Thai and some of my own moves I learned while growing up if that makes any difference. Its useful for hand to hand protection, but seriously anyone with a gun or knife... its useless. Besides Im not that big... I have low body fat but Im also only 160lb and 6' tall. You can call me pretty skinny. I guess id be at like 170-180 if i had more fat, which is still lightweight for my height ;)

And disabling a person with a knife is not as easy as movies make it look like. Takes loads of training and still there is a good chances of getting cut up. I cant do it very good.

In my life i've never been confronted with a criminal with a gun, but I have been confronted by knife/bat weilding gangs.

Every situation is different, in some its best to run, in some its best to fight.

In anycase, I just like guns.

As a civilian, once. In the military, often.

I'm almost 43 and have never been put in that situation. The problem is, if someone points a gun at you, you don't have time to get your own gun out, and if you do, you better be ready to use it.
To expand upon the one time I had to use it as a civilian. It was about 2am and I was stopped at a stoplight. I noticed the punk at a cross walk. Anyway, he started walking across the road as soon as I stopped. He got near my car, pulled a really beat up looking P38, tried to open my door (it was locked). He yelled "open the FU**in door. I asked him to wait a minute, he then looked away.... That is when I pulled MY Sig Sauer P226. I did not even have to point it at him. As soon as he saw it, he ran. My guess is he did not even have ammo. Either way, the fact I had a weapon, stopped a crime. And YES, I was very prepared to use it. I had every right TO shoot him, but I did not because I did not HAVE too.

I am VERY confident in my ability with a firearm and I know the law. I am very prepared to use it to defend myself and my family. I WILL NOT be a victim.

Most likely the person on the end of the other gun is a little more crazy than you and is in a desparate state of mind. I think it'd be easier to give them what they want and move on. A wallet can be replaced. Your children's father cannot.
Of course... I will never escalate a situation in which I have no chance of success. BUT, given a opportunity, you better believe I will defend myself. I believe in doing the right thing, even if it is hard. The RIGHT thing to do is to stand up for yourself, if you can.

I refuse to be scared into submission by criminals. However, I am not a inheritly violent person but I know how to handle myself in violent situations.

It is the difference between being a sheep or being a wolfhound.
