Here is my husband's first SchH3 GSD-

Again, all working lines.
Hey that's my dog's daddy

I don't like the really early dogs, the 1902 dog has a nice face, sure, but he's butt high, not square.

I like the 1909 dog sitting, but I'd have to see a better shot of him. I really like the 1911 dog on top (I want to like the one on the bottom but again, I'd have to see him in profile).

Well, we raised him from 8 weeks and my husband trained him to SchH3 and then he moved to Alaska.

I'd love to see your dog! We still have pics here of Axel everywhere on the walls.
Small world!! I'll get some pics up soon. I don't think he came out quite as nice as Axel TBH lol but that's OK, he's not having any babies...

Holy crap that could almost be Knox! Knox is I think (Equinox correct me if I'm wrong) but West German working lines with a bit of Czech in there.
This boy is 3/4 Czech. He is linebred 3,-4 on Ciro z Pohrancini straze. His mother was an Art z Lipin daughter. The 1/4 West German goes to the "A" Vorderstainwald litter, Enno Beilstein, and Harro Lechrainstadt.

I would believe you, because the Knox picture you posted reminded me very much of Torro, the sire of this boy. The stacked pic of Torro he was about 17 months, somewhere I have better pics lol.

Here is more of him.

He's a very good looking dog!

Knox goes back to Zidane vom Haus Sevens on one side and Aceofnike van het Bleekhof on the other. Other that that it's all greek to me lol.

ETA, and his sister looks like Knox does too! Very eerie similarity's lol

This is the dog that got BOB on the 3rd day of the UKC show I went to a few weeks back. I really love her topline, plus she's soooo sweet (her and Logan were in the same handling class):

There are some of the dogs she was up against (and a couple beat her in other shows that weekend):

I'll take the white bitch over the others ANY day. My trainer's GSD is also more old-style, and is from working lines.

I really hate what they're done to the back end of GSDs :(

Roman <3 Remember you (Xandra) posting a picture of Axel on the "Post Your Dog's Parents" thread and was so pleasantly surprised (had never seen any pictures of Roman prior).

Agree with you 110% on your preferences, not a fan of the early dogs, and yes, I was only looking at the 1902 dog's head. I don't like any of the heads on the super early dogs at ALL, so that one stood out to me. Not a fan of the body in the least, I actually found the Malinois of those times much prettier and more uniform (as is expected).

Malinois 50 - 100 years ago

100 years ago I would have liked the Malinois build more.

Aleron - what do you think of the new changes to the UKC standard? I'm interested to see where this goes, have heard around on other forums and groups about ulterior motives (which I don't disagree with) in establishing these changes, but in this matter specifically I don't mind so much. Will depend on the judge's call as far as what is marked as extreme, of course, but looking forward to seeing if this brings any changes.

I love Aceofknight's sire, Ufo van Guy's Hof. A friend of mine in New England has a son, powerhouse of a dog, drive like a Malinois. LOVE it.

Can't wait to see more of Knox! :)

This dog looks familiar (face/type), any idea what the breeding is? I did see that you are in Kansas, any relation to the Kerstone dogs? Honestly not a fan if that dog was shown as a German Shepherd, reminds me more of the dogs registered as White Shepherds. But to be fair, it is also not a good stack so doesn't show off the dog well.

I do like that the UKC rewards dogs of moderate conformation, but there is quite a lack in consistency, you can take two UKC Champions and have two very, very different dogs in every way!

I have no idea what her lines are, but she is a GSD. I can't remember her registered name or I'd look it up.

And you're SO right about inconsistency. Like I said, she won BOB that day, but one of the others won the day before, and they're completely different types. ALL the GSDs in the show all weekend were from around here (well, their handlers live here, not sure where the dogs actually came from), every single one of them was in my handling class.

This bitch is from my parents' GSD's breeder:

Their dog looks very much like her, but bigger and more masculine. I really like their dog's conformation, though he's getting a bit saggy with old age (he's 12 now).

I am pretty much literally drooling over the dogs in this thread.

Oh, absolutely. It's also for that reason that a lot of people focus on how much rear the German Shepherds in the show ring have, but NEVER seem to realize that other breeds (such as Irish Setters) have the same extremes. It's just not as accentuated as much as it is for Shepherds when they are stacked.
On that note, the hips aren't actually sloped :) Common misconception/misuse of terminology - the hips themselves are, well, just hips! The incline is in the topline relative to the ground, I don't think the hips themselves can be sloped.
 No matter how many times I hear that I always think, "Look at its hips!" instead of "Look at that topline!"
And you're totally right- if I were in a show ring and looked at that setter next to a GSD with a horrible topline it's the GSD I would think looked much worse because of the stack.
Isn't the stack (please correct me if I'm wrong!) supposed to give the impression of a readiness to spring into action?

Sael, is the dog's back in the third picture as roached as it looks, or is it just me?

No keep going!!!! That last girl had the most beautiful face!!!

I've really liked all the Czech line heavy dogs that I've had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with.

That old school is built very similar to my Sibe/GSD mix in body. Except with less fur. Freaky!
