Yesterday was Morgan's first day of Basic Training class. I got a huge discount through Petco since he is adopted from the Humane Society, so I decided to go ahead with that.
It was just Morgan and one other dog (beautiful BC mix!) in the class. We actually joined a week late (dunno how that happened...), but as it turns out, Morgan seems to be right on top of things already. He already knows "sit" "down" and "wait", which were what the first week were about.
Yesterday was geared towards walking on a leash, "stay" and "leave it"... all things that I need a little help getting to the next step on, so it was perfect! He did pretty well, considering we were in a store with a new dog right there. It will definitely be some work building his focus, but I think we're off to a great start!
The other dog's owner in the class was asking about flyball and agility afterwards, and so I listened in on that. I don't know anything about other of those sports, to be honest, but I may look into the flyball club here to see what it's like. I think Morgan might have a blast with it.
One funny thing, too... while we were waiting for the previous class to end and ours to start, I was just walking Morgan around the store looking at things. A sales guy for Natural Balance came up to us with some free samples and to talk about their products. When Morgan got one whiff of the food roll the guy had, he immediately sat down and offered up his paw to shake hands. It was pretty funny. What a gentleman! :lol-sign:
Aside from that, we got a lot of comments about how well-behaved he is from other shoppers and employees in the store. I couldn't be more proud!
