Females Heat

Hey,
I feel kinda funny asking this but, does anyone know if dogies go through menopause? I have a six year old corgi female and just wondering if she'll ever go through that?

Dont know for definate but sure I read they dont, think they can have seasons for the whole of their life. but will stand corrected if I am wrong. will have to look in my books. its not something I have thought about.

I don't think they do because someone on this forum posted on a thread about someone breeding a 10 year old Newfie (or close to that age). So I don't think they do I think they go through heats for their whole life.

No they dont but chances are higher of Fetal Absorbtion and Vaginal Prolapse.

I really don't know either .... I had my females spayed after their 2nd or 3rd litter when breeding. By then they were about 8 yrs. old.

Dogs do not undergo any form of menopause. There have been rare cases of heat cycles resulting in pregnancies at fifteen years of age.

if it is of any help, my intact dachshund was regular like a clockwork every 6 months until she died at 2 weeks shy of 14 years.
