How come in your post about the chi you did not tell the buyer that this dog bit a child twice? Its one thing to put that a dog is not good with kids, but another thing when a dog has bitten someone.

That's an excellent point and illustrates how risky it can be to purchase a dog through a classified ad. You just never know which details are being left out.

Lisa, if you only $460/month, why are you wanting to trade in your boy for another dog?! Surely you know by now that dogs are expensive.

I can't pick at your decision to sell him, but trading him for another dog that may/may not work out is IDIOTIC when you are already struggling financially. You have your current dogs and your CHILD to think of, don't go out and get more. btw, why isn't your female Shep too big? Are you selling her too

Most the breeds that you listed in your add that you would like for your boyfriend also shed a lot, such as a pug.
Pug is for me,Boston is for me,Min Pin is for me,Chi is for me the rest are for him.He doesnt like small dogs I do.I didnt say non shedding I said he thinks my Shepherd is hairy most plush coated Shepherds are.

I cant not have a dog.I dont have my female Shepherd. The jerk who boarded her when me and my ex split caused trouble and ended up getting her through small claims cause I wouldnt breed her early to make him happy. This is the only dog I have.

Small dogs eat less especially when feeding a good quality food it takes less to feed than cheap crap. The reason my dog is leaving is size.

Is that the breeder? Didn't she come from Alpenhof? I've heard that's a very reputable kennel.

Not sure what to make of your comment about breeding, maybe the other members who have known you longer can shed some light on that.

Is your landlord even the issue here because you keep bringing up other things?

What happens if you get a pug and they have an issue with there eyes which costs 2000 or more (yea it's expensive). Are you going to rehome the dog because you cannot afford it?

My boyfriend doesnt like Shepherds they are hairy.I have never lived in an apartment.I owned but when my ex beat the crap out of me I left. Now I am in Geared to income housing which is a little different than just renting a place.Like I said try renting something on $460 a month and see what you can get.Are you going to pay my rent.I think not.Whatever like I dont have enough stress than trying to explain myself to you.I am outta here.

I am sorry that you are in a less than desirable situation. But to be honest with you, it sounds like your priorities are a little misdirected. Here is your ad that you posted that everyone is commenting on

1 Year old Intact male GSD.Some of the best German Showlines in Canada.Awesome with kids of all ages.Hates male dogs.chases cats.73lbs,26inches great bite.Basic obedience in English and German.Started on sleevework as well.Great SchH or Ring prospect.Very strong drives.Housetrained and up to date on shots until next August. Will make awesome stud with these lines.Great dog needs great owner.$1800 obo or trade for other breed.Serious inquiries only please.
Breeds I am interested in are:
Boxer,Pug,Boston Terrier,German Pinscher,Min Pin,Chihuahua,Rottweiler,Mastiffs possibly others.

Now if money is an big issue for you , as you stated, then why would you even consider "trading" when you could sell your dog and have $1800 to spend on rent, food, your child etc...?? Also, owning a Mastiff is pretty expensive with Vet care and food, how are you going to afford that?

As far as your "boyfriend" not liking Shephards , I'd be damned if I would give my dog up because someone I'm dating doesn't like it that breed. I'd tell him to go find another girl friend and don't let the door hit him in the a$$ on the way out. Apparently you just got out of an abusive relationship ( and I know that it's tough to do that ) but it sounds like you might be getting right back into another one. I wouldn't even think of telling someone that I am dating and that I really cared for, to get rid of her dog, cause I don't like it. What nerve!!!! What's he going to ask for next, you putting your kid up for adoption cause it get's on his nerves? You better think about what is going on here and realize that we are not trying to pick on you, but are trying to get you to step back for a second and look at the big picture....

This and that Chi you rescued, correct? May I ask why you went out and got a Chihuahua when you were already struggling financially? Honestly, I'm not trying to be nit-picky and judgmental, but when you have a child and another dog to think of, why would you go out and get another? I LOVE dogs and would be heartbroken if I had to live without one, but I would rather have no dog than have one and not be able to properly care for it.

I agree that small dogs are inexpensive to feed; Ripley eats his weight (5lbs or so) in Innova EVO each month. Costs about $15 for the 6lb bag. However, that doesn't make him cheap or somehow easier to own than a large dog. Have you considered that a MIN PIN may not like your child? What are you going to do when that tiny, delicate dog with an attitude (and most minpins DO have an attitude) bites her? Trade that one in, too?

For one edit out my number idiot. The mastiff is not for me as already stated.

My boyfriend did not tell me to get rid of him my landlord did.My BF just said he didnt want him. That is not controlling. It is his preferance. So what if he likes other breeds than me.He knows when I am out of this hell hole I will have a shepherd.

And I am glad you got away from your BF who beats you. I'm glad you and your child are safe. I am a single parent to and was hit twice by my daughters father once I got a black eye and the other time a bloody nose. Men who beat women are cowards. I don't think you should leave Chaz, we could be some support for you. Why I don't agree with trading in your dog who is beautiful by the way, I give you credit for leaving your BF. Why can't your GSD go back to the original breeder?

Is your boyfriend going to give you $1800 if you make the trade?

Lisa . . . Is there any way you could find a temporary home for your dog? Maybe your BF could just TAKE CARE of him for you until you were able to get out of your living situation.

Honestly, you say you will have another Shep, but from whom? I don't know any responsible breeders who would place a dog in an unstable home, as yours seems to be. I wouldn't. It's nothing personal, I just wouldn't want the dog to be bounced around as this poor boy is.

Resorting to verbal insults is not going to gain your any credibility. Also anyone who clicks on the link provided can see your number you posted in the add for anyone on the internet to see.

I'm sorry to be so blunt, but that's an incredibly selfish statement. The dogs you're getting are being bounced from home to home because your life is in flux. You can't offer them a steady future at the moment. Also, I think you should focus all your efforts on yourself and your child right now.

EDIT: Also, since I've known you on this forum (about a year), I believe you've gone through 4-5 dogs. Sasha, the minpin (I think his name was Roscoe), the chihuahua, this shepherd you're rehoming, and a mastiff puppy that tragically died of illness. That is, on average, one dog every 2-3 months.

Please, I don't think you need to be getting any more dogs right now. It sounds like you have enough challenges on your plate at the moment.

The Chi is gone.Long gone to a old lady with no grand kids.I had my Shepherd sold but the lady backed out due to no money. He was supposed to be gone.It is a little different with a un socialized abused ch than a puppy that I will socialize.I have had a min pin that was awesome with kids but the ex made me get rid of that dog too.Shots and vet care cost money but my vet is good and works with me.Food is the least of it.

She did come from Alpenhof but they couldnt board her due to a new litter. She was boarded elsewhere for a month and a half.Alpenhof is very reputable awesome breeder.
How can a boarding kennel try to force you to breed your dog? Or maybe a litter was payment for boarding? Sounds strange. Sorry, but I hate to hear when dogs get bounced around from place to place. I know people can run into difficult situations but I've seen so many messed-up shepherds that have never known a forever home until they eventually landed in rescue.
Maybe it's time to take a break from dog ownership until everything gets straightened out - for the dog's sake.
