Well, we figure it's not too far from the ground, and if we fall, it's all sand. No helmets for us! Don't try to lecture me cuz it won't work! Sorry, daredevil! I do wear them in lessons though, just not on my horse.

I would wear a helmet, especially when you're bareback like that. Horses are unpredictable, trust me I know.

But anyway, it looks like fun! You guys are great bareback riders! I've only ridden bareback twice and loved it!

Do I have to?!?!?!?!?!?! I've had her for like 2 years and I've had horses period for about 4 or 5 years, never wearing helmets except on horses that weren't mine.

Do I have to?!?!?!?!?!?!
Nope. Honestly, I don't care. If people are dumb enough to ride any horse, particularly one who is clearly not 100% under control, without a helmet, it's no skin off my back.

I've been riding a lot longer than you - possibly longer than you've been alive. I manage a horse farm now, and have worked full-time at large farms (30+ horses) for nearly 10 years. I have seen accidents happen in every possible situation you can imagine.

Not too long ago, a professional dressage trainer died when her upper-level horse tripped at the walk.

and if we fall, it's all sand.
Good. That will soak up the blood after your horse's foot smashes into your head. Much easier clean-up for your parents.

Fannie is completely controlable! I do wear a helmet when I jump 3"5', but I'm not stupid. Maybe a bit risktaking, but not stupid! You, my mom, my grammy, and and my sibs are the only people who have ever called me stupid. I don't know if you meant it, but they did. Otherwise, they wouldn't constantly say it. Every time I (AKA stupid) fall off my horse, she screeches to a halt and waits for me to get up. I don't care if you call me stupid, I'm used to it. Really. It used to hurt. Bad. But not anymore. It just sorta seeps in, stings for a moment, then filters out.

It was cool to see Fannie in motion! Great vids!

I would strongly suggest wearing a helmet though! :)

Agree with helmets !!! I've seen too many freak accidents during my many years with horses.
