can also be caused by some foreign material caught in the inner eyelid or in the groove of the eyelid before, you obviously have an infection going there and will need to get some eye ointment from your vet before it gets any worse. My pointer bin once was ablinking and i took a good look and found two pieces of grass (the neighbor had been weed eating along the fence) stuck down in that groove...and then Mary seemed to be having a great deal of eye pain. I took her to the vet and we found that she had a cyst growing on the inside of her eyelid as well as on the edge of the lid both were scratching her cornea and had to be removed. She has a little scar you can see on the eye it's self, but was able to keep her vision in that eye, we had a problem later on where the scar tissue then started scratching the eye. I used a gel eye moisture concoction to lubricate her eye until the scar tissue softened up. U can use warm compresses to help fight the infection and give your dog some relief as well as cleaning the eye with a boric acid solution.
