1.) Chihuahua- Tiny, lap dogs...not something I ever want to own but they are cute.

2.) Chow Chow- Fluffy, purple/black tongue, protective, loyal.

3.) Lab- Happy-go-lucky, assertive, fun, active, loving & loyal.

4.) English Springer Spaniel- Bouncy, fun, active.

5.) Border Collie- Hyper, strong drive, beautiful, many colours.

6.) Pit Bull- Protective, gentle, extremely loyal, loving, strong.

7.) Australian Cattle Dog- perfect size, determined, strong willed, highly intelligent.

8.) Norwegian Elkhound- Pretty, double coated, silvery/black in colour.

9.) Mastiff- Huge, gorgeous, drooly (lol...the ones I met were all droolers), loving & gentle.

10.) Jack Russel Terrier- Hyper, active, bouncy, strong willed, terrier...not something I'd want to own.

11.) Malinois- Tons of drive, extremely active/hyper, protective, loyal, short coated, needs a lot of physical and mental stimulation. (Being a Belgian lover, I also must say how incredibly beautiful they are)

12.) Catahoula Leopard Dog- Gorgeous markings, very protective, big, short coat, relatively rare.

13.) Saluki- Elegant, graceful, high prey drive and absolutely gorgeous.

14.) Bloodhound- Stubborn, strong willed, big, lots of wrinkles.

15.) Pharaoh Hound- Beautiful coat colour (love orangey coloured dogs), elegant, fast, high prey drive.

My first thoughts usually are closely related to both the dog - and the owner. Hence:

1.) Chihuahua- tiny means never having to apologize for being hideously ugly

2.) Chow Chow- aloof a$$hole

3.) Lab- fat, aggressive, overrated as a 'family dog' (sure, the Manson family)

4.) English Springer Spaniel- somebody's too special to buy a Cocker

5.) Border Collie - dog on crack

6.) Pit Bull- potentially horrible incident waiting to happen (either the dog attacks yours, or the owners harrangue you for hours on the topics of sweetie pitties who give kisses)

7.) Australian Cattle Dog- like we didn't have enough stocky, ugly dogs?

8.) Norwegian Elkhound- a butch Keshond

9.) Mastiff - McMansion ornament

10.) Jack Russel Terrier- the wages of sin

11.) Malinois- somebody's too special for a GSD

12.) Catahoula Leopard Dog- southerners

13.) Saluki- Arabian horses for dog people

14.) Bloodhound- again, it's the onslaught of the very special breeds

6.) Pit Bull- beautiful, misunderstood, extremely loyal, loving, but not for everyone, needs firm consistancy.

7.) Australian Cattle Dog- see border collies, nip, had one, won't have another. not for me

8.) Norwegian Elkhound- pretty! fluffy! work dogs!

9.) Mastiff- pretty, big, gentle but guard dogs to the heart. need a lot more work than i can give.

10.) Jack Russel Terrier- intensely hyper! a dog on springs that if left to their own devices could probably take over the world.

11.) Malinois- fluffy german shepherd like dogs...

12.) Catahoula Leopard Dog- spotted! i know nothing about them!

13.) Saluki- Elegant, aloof, sight hounds, can't be walked off leash, terrible recall. Dream dog... the angel from all dogs go to heaven.

14.) Bloodhound- intense sniffing drive, determined to follow a trail to the end, drool, big, trusty from lady and the tramp

15.) Pharaoh Hound- elegant and old looking - i know nothing about them

13.) Saluki- Doesn't listen worth anything! Royal dog of Egypt, must be found worthy to own them in Egypt, like training a brick wall, never be left off leash, can jump a 6 foot fence, only do something if it is going to benefit them, skinny, beautiful, I could go on and on, lol

14.) Bloodhound- Only listens to its nose, pulls like a Mack truck, adolescent males are EXTREMELY hard to own

15.) Pharaoh Hound- Love the looks, don't know that much about them

PS (I am dog-sitting 3 salukis this weekend, and since most people think that they are pretty, etc. I'll be sure to take pics )

I see a lot of fuzzy and furry Malinois comments, I think some maybe getting confused with the Terv's and sheepdogs. Although they are similiar dogs, Mals have short fur compared to the rest.

WHAT?!?! Aussies are beautiful dogs! If i hadent gotten Kya, I was going to get one, ive wanted one since i was little! i mean, Look at charlie COULD ANY DOG BE SUCH A CUTIE?! NOW....after reading all these first thoughts, lets tell some true facts about the breeds.

People who own these breeds....speak up! Copy & paste again and tell if you have owned the breed and what they are REALLY like.

Here's mine:

1.) Chihuahua-never owned. Good friend had 2. They bark like crazy when I walk in the house and they try to bite my pants. I can't pet them or they will bit me.

2.) Chow Chow-never owned.

3.) Lab- Owned a choc. lab. He was TERRIBLY hyper and always had a ball or stick in his mouth. He was crazy for water.

4.) English Springer Spaniel- Never owned. Neighbor has one. She's dog aggressive, hard headed and very hyper.

5.) Border Collie-THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!!!!!! Own two as of right now. Very smart, very trainable, a lot of energy, will work for you all day long, have a high work drive and ethics.

6.) Pit Bull- Own one. Very friendly, not dog aggressive at all, smallnly 40lbs, loves people, kitties, dogs, kitties, more kitties LOL.

7.) Australian Cattle Dog-never owned, good friend raises them. His are hard headed, very territorial, love to work and please you, and they have a lot of energy.

8.) Norwegian Elkhound-Never owned. good friend has one. She barks at everything and has a really thick coat. She's a bit timid.

9.) Mastiff-no experience with them.

10.) Jack Russel Terrier-Never owned. Aunt and father in law have them. They're very hyper, jump a lot, eat moles.

11.) Malinois- never owned, but will someday.

12.) Catahoula Leopard Dog-never owned, friend has one. It's very territorial and will bite you.

13.) Saluki-No experience with them

14.) Bloodhound-never owned.

15.) Pharaoh Hound-no experience with them.

Well I don't have experience with any other breed but the ACD, so I'll give some true facts about them, lol.

Australian Cattle Dog -
-Only 2 registered colors blue and red.
-Require very little grooming, "wash and wear dogs"
-Territorial, will protect their owners and property with their lives
-Hard headed, but egar to work and please
-Active, but not hyper
-Stocky build, but quick and athletic
-Very intelligent
-Very queit, only barks when nessacery
-Velcro dogs, loves to be with their people, although they are a one-person dog
-Males can be same sex aggressive, some chase cats
