it's not a training book but try reading 'what wendell wants' lol it's hilarious and i kept thinking 'aww i do that' but it's a really really good book
"How dogs learn" is a good book. It gives you an all around view of operant conditioning and it is not bias to one technique. It just lays it all out there and you can use the method that works for you and your dog the best.
The Rosetta Bone by Cheryl Smith, So Your Dog's Not Lassie by B. Fisher & S. Delzio...
For a fun (and sometimes hair-raising) read - Winterdance (Running the Iditarod) by Gary Paulsen
i've really really liked Kevin Behan's book called natural Dog Training (i think that's the name). you can find him on the Internet. with my puppy, it's by far been the most helpful.
take care.
For training/essays - Vicki Hearne's interesting, on the theory/essay side rather than straight how-to. She also wrote a mystery novel, "The White German Shepherd."
