IF you guys remember my last post I was taking bare of my brother's dobie puppy. Well now the puppy is ours (his wife didn't want it).
He is 7 ish months old and healthy looking in everyway but he has had diahrea since I have known him (3 months or so). I thought it was food as the breeder fed pedigree or something, then my bro fed another bad food (can't remember what) then fed Nutro then I got the dog and put him onto Orijen. It's a little better but not much(the diahrea). We also even tried him on the Eagle Pack powder stuff that you use when swtiching foods to prevent diahrea but it did not help.
So took him to the vets and of course they wanted to change him to a eukenuba or purina food. They did a poop smear testy thing and he has 'beaver fever' which is parasites that they can get from playing in streams where beavers poo. So he has to have this powder dewormer stuff on his food for 5 days but she still says that she thinks these worms are only part of the problem and that dobie's sensitive stomachs often need special food.

I told her I was gonna try the dewormer stuff first then see about food. I was wondering what you guys feed (specially dobie people) if your dogs have sensitive stomachs prone to diahrea?

My dog has a sensitive stomach and I feed him California Natural Herring and sweet potatoe. He has done wonderful on this food. But he also has food allergies and this fixed all that as well. Anything that is too rich gives my guy severe diaharea. When he was younger I gave him 1/2 a cup of wellness and he exploded for 3 days that followed that to the point of pooping blood and that was only off of 1/2 a cup. So I put him on this food and have never had a problem and still after well over a year of eating it he still eats it like its new. And this was not like him before wit other food.

Good luck with fingind something that works.

Not to my knowledge... dobes don't necessarily have sensitive tummies. In my experience however, they DO go through a "Diarrhea A Few Times A Week is FUN!" phase at around 7-12 months). So find a food you like and stick with it - the "runs" will pass with age.

Currently, Ilsa is finishing up a bag of Taste of the Wild, Ronin is finishing up a bag of EVO. But they eat pretty much anything and don't get the runs.

My Dobie eats Nutro Natural Choice and has picture-perfect poops! The only time she has digestive issues is if she eats too much at once. Be sure you're feeding the right size meal at least twice daily. Once a day feeding or overfeeding is always a bad idea for Dobes, anyway, since they're prone to gastric torsion.

Saga has entered her "having the runs is FUN" time. She is on Canidae currently, but will be switching back to Innova shortly. When I brought her home a couple months ago, she didn't get the runs from an abrupt switch in food. She was, however, gassy as all get out, just ask Sizzle.

THanks. I won't feed Nutro b/c it's quite low quality. The pet store gave my mom regular Innova (not the EVO) and I was not impressed with it either so I am bringing that back.
Does Canidae have a good large puppy formula?
