I have heard about this, and while it might be entertaining, its not all they are saying it is. They can tell you what is in your dog...but they can't tell you (the website never mentions this, but that article does) if your dog is 100%. They can say they don't find any other markers, but that doesn't mean they are there. They have only used the US dog pop for validation, so there is a risk that imported dogs, with different lines, might be inconclusive. The news clip also infers that they are always right. While DNA (almost) never lies (for cool reading look up chimerism) interpreting the results can be tricky.

i know of two mixed breed mystery dogs who've had the dna breed id test done. in neither case did they come back with answers that made any sense. they only identify the most "predominant" breeds in the mix, the list of breeds they can id is extremely short, and i'm just not buying it.

my one trainer has a little dog, maybe 20 pounds, who was id'd as lab x english setter. yeah.

has done this testing with her two mixes. There's a thread here on Chaz about it somewhere. I think the only issue is that they can only tell you the primary breeds in the mix and can't go much further down than that.
