This isn't really about dogs, but dog toys. The plush kind, to be exact.

The ones I usually buy at the local pet shop don't give washing instructions, so I just wash under lukewarm water w/ dish soap and put them outside under the sun to dry.

Every single time I wash these, the squeaker breaks. Are squeakers not supposed to "touch" water? Just curious, because I feel like I'm getting ripped off if everytime I wash a toy half of it breaks. This doesn't really matter to our puppy though, lol :D

Auggie has a big puppy that goes in his crate, and whenever I wash his pillow I just chuck it in the washing machine. I wash on the hot/warm cycle to kill germs, and then I plop it in the dryer. It's survived many washings and still squeaks... there's only been a couple others that I've needed to wash, and those go through the machine too just fine...
I wonder if it's putting them out in the sun maybe? I have no idea!

I've always machined washed ..... usually if a toy has a squeeker it's been removed by dog , re- stitched and still loved . I'm still washing 30 year old woobies !

By the time mine hit the washing machine, the squakers have loooong since been demolished. ;)

I wash mine in the machine and dry them in the dryer and the squeaker always dies. I figure it's worth it to get them clean though. If you were crafty they sell new squeakers and you can replace the old broken ones.

There's only one toy currently that has EVER lived long enough to be washed and it happened yesterday. rah has a "baby" he takes to work with him and he adores this toy and never destroys it (I think maybe because he only has it in a crate at work?) and he's oh so cute - the toy is grey like him and he uses it as a pillow (even for his butt!) and he's always in some contorted position with this toy stuffed underneath him or in between his legs...

yesterday, tho - rah vomited on baby. so she had to be washed - and she survived, squeaker and all.

when I washed Max's bone with the squeaker it didn't work at first but I just pumped the squeaker for a long time to get all the water out and it started to squeak again.

Well I am still looking for a toy that will survive long enough to need washing, AND the squeaker matters to Orson a GREAT deal ;)
