cold weather cars and salt.

help!

My hard headed son just bought a car that is from Ohio. It has some rust according to the hubs. Where are the most likely to need attention spots due to the salt .

I am worried because i did they same thing eons agoo and had the frame rust through. i dont want him to die because it wasnt checked somewhere we had not thought to test.

How old is the car? I have a 13 year old car with a bit of rust above the back tires but there is no risk to the frame. They make cars better these days tho too.

it is a 2005 focis , i am probably over reacting , but i worry , he drives like a bat out of hell.

DH and I have both had cars older than that and have never had indoor parking since we've been married and while there may have been some rust here and there on the vehicles its never been bad enough to do structural damage to the car. We live in northwest Indiana.

ow good , that make me feel so much better. i had an clunker with other huge problems so
i dont blame all the salt.

Yea I've lived in Minnesota almost my whole life and the only car I ever saw that rusted out was an old 70s Toyota when I was a kid. It just doesn't seem to happen anymore, really.
