So, I've been interested in them for years but, well, just wanted to get a bit more information from everyone here. For no reason. At all.

So, basically just general information. What are they like? Overall temperament, personality, nerves ect.

How are they with other dogs, people, new environments, for the Powder Puffs how is grooming? And health concerns for the PP (I wouldn't be looking at a Hairless). How long do their ears have to be posted?

How do they hold up with bigger dogs? Like, how sturdy/hardy are they?

And basically any other information anyone might have!

I know almost nothing about them other than that I've really liked the ones I've met. LOL

I knew two PowderPuff pups that would come in to the clinic. They were cool little dogs. Social, yet polite, very good for their shots, very attached to their respective person.

Their coat wasn't any different grooming wise (for a pet groom) than other cottony-coated type breeds. If you wanted to keep them long, you'd have to brush them pretty regularly during the week, but if you trimmed them in a "puppy cut" it probably wouldn't be near as bad.

Schen is delightful.

The ones I have met (and mine) are happy out going social dogs with good dog manners. They tend to be wimps and avoid conflicts. Schen spends a good amount of time trying to get Dekka to play and then appeasing her when he pisses her off.

He is soft but has great toy (particularly tug) drive and likes food very much. He is quite smart and likes to learn.

Just today I was joking he's a butterfly. Bad things happen (I accidentally nicked the top of his balls shaving him yesterday or things like Dekka going after him cause she is a biatch) and he freaks out for a few moments and then its like nothing happened and he is happy and bouncy again.

When I was at the breeders I met a fantastic little bitch, very very outgoing and 'drivey' for lack of a better term.

A powderpuff in full coat is a lot of work. In fact just yesterday I shaved Schen down to a pony cut in part due to the twice weekly bathings that weren't always getting done. Also he was hot in the apt. He is adorable in the pony cut.

I quite like them, they are fairly sturdy little dogs, athletic and bright.

Edited to answer questions:

Health concerns really aren't any different between hair and no hair. Though I guess less worry about acne.

Schen's ears weren't posted. Just a little bit of masking tape. I got him at 3 months and I think I quit with the tape just after he was 4 months. His ears stand no issues, I am even thinking of letting his ears get hair so he can have pap ears :)

He loves new people but isn't goofy about it. Likes going places for the most part.

Well, that all pretty much sums up my experience with them, personality wise. The ones I've met were delightful little dogs They seemed to melt into your body and become part of you when sitting on your lap. I, too, didn't see any personality difference between the hairless and PP. The PPs were clipped to look similar to a hairless for easy of grooming. Kind of like a Cocker Spaniel pet clip. I'l be honest, I was so taken with them that, despite the fact that I say I'm not a little or hairy dog person, I've wanted a PP since before we got Caleb. The trick is convincing my husband. ;)

I think it's not uncommon for the hairless ones to have missing teeth. I vaguely remember reading something someplace that mentioned a link to hairlessness and missing teeth.

I have one. I have a hairless though. He's also a poorly bred rescue, though I love him anyhow. Dekka says I need to say he is delightful and he has no derp face.

My parents were HORRIFIED when they heard I had gotten 'one of those dogs that wins ALL the ugly dog contests'. Then they met him, and were thrilled he's actually cute.

I got him at 13 months, his ear stay up when he's paying attention to something, flop a lot of the time. I posted him for a while which is the only reason they stand any of the time, but it was too late to get them to stay up up. His ear leather is also kind of thin, but when he was young I likely could have gotten them to cooperate.

Arson plays advanced jumpers in AAC agility, training him is nothing like a cocker. He's more like a whippet, but more resilient. He learns fast and dislikes repetition. Heeling has been a b**** to teach. I have finally got some heel some of the time by feeding him his night time cookie in a heel sit position. He won't do more then 2 reps and it makes training hard. He gets excited and loves to spin, yip and leaps about standing on his back legs when he doesn't get what he wants immediately.

Choose parents with good dentition. Arson has sad nubs and is missing many teeth. He has poor genes but can power through raw not gulping like a champ.

I like hair, I have cocker kids. I like my naked child. I'd easily get another. Dekka's PP is cute, but I'd like a naked girl for myself in future. The need for clothing is a little overwhelming and needy at first. It got easier. It's nothing now.
