Yup. It's been a POS from the get-go. Not that it ever had much get-go to speak of, lol, but I'm probably a bit more hard to please in that area than the average driver. Oh, and it handles for crap. The F150 has better handling. :eek:
What model are we talking about?

It's a loaded up Passport. I forget which year, fairly recent. They've had to be towed in at least half a dozen times.

I had a boss once who bought one of the ones that looks like an electric razor for his wife . . . I had to go rescue her half a dozen times at least. Of course, she was always snotty about having to ride in the old 1974 Caprice I had at the time, but, like I reminded her once, it wasn't sitting on the side of the road waiting for a $1000 repair ;)

The passport was an odd-ball model, made by Isuzu. Definitely not a good example of Honda quality, and what are you doing evaluating handling on an SUV? Do you have a deathwish? :lol-sign:

This one is supposedly the one after the Isuzus. Put it this way, the POS Bronco II she had handled better. Hell, my old short body Jeep CJ5 with the monster V8 was better :rofl1:

I demand a lot from a car ;) It had better perform, be comfortable, be beyond reliable and be quick. Once I drove that old 78 280SL I knew I'd never be satisfied with anything but German engineering again ;)

I believe you're contradicting yourself. While the Germans can engineer a car, I've yet to see their cars described as "beyond reliable."

You've had some bad luck, and are using the wrong Honda's as examples. We sold Jessie's civic at over 200k, and I believe our history of repairs on it totaled <$1,500. I sold my old integra with 180k on it, I beat up on that thing bad and it still compression tested perfect - and it could handle.

Gotta agree. My '96 Honda Accord has over 200,000 miles on it and has not broken down in the 7 (or 8?) years I've had it. I haven't had any problems, aside from general wear and tear. My brother drives a '93 Honda Accord that's been in my family for 10 years now and my parents have an '01 Civic. I'm not super impressed with Honda SUV's, I think they should stick to cars. :p

I tend to agree on SUV's - but if you are looking for one the CR-V, Element, or the RDX are all pretty capable. Their larger SUV's and trucks, however, are just not their cup of tea.

Oh, I'm well over 350,000 on the 318i with no repairs other than what I had to when I bought it (idiot woman had burned up the clutch and managed to tear up the front wheel bearings, less than $300 for both, though) and replacing some fuel lines, and my own idiocy, not realizing the hydraulic fluid for the clutch and brakes are on a common reservoir and needing to top up the fluid :eek: )

Heck, I drove my Cavalier for over 250,000 miles with no repairs other than replacing the brakes, never even had to clean the injectors, and it ran almost like new until the SO at the time wrecked it.

Until it gets over 200,000 miles I don't count it as "long term." ;)

German cars and reliability . . . there's a reason you see so many of them out there with all those mileage badges. ;) I think Cadillac started issuing them not too long ago (maybe?), but I haven't seen anyone else putting them out there?

Based on all the reviews and ratings I read online (in addition to anecdotes from my experiences driving them), I will continue to love my civics.

Volkswagen needs to remember that VWs are NOT Porsches and they will lose their market if they keep pricing aftermarket stuff that way.

I'll agree wholeheartedly on that. . . My ex and I used to get REALLY weird looks from non-car people because we were into VWs and we'd talk about ours fairly often, but when someone asked for a recmmendation we told them NOT to buy a Jetta/Golf and to go with a Honda Civic instead. They'd be all prepared to hear about how fantastic VWs are and instead they'd get a long lecture on why they should never buy one unless they want a diesel, and that even then, they should never buy one. :rofl1:
